Generic G1000 panels discussion

Ok, I am an old plane jockey from way back. Flew B737-300 and -400 in the early nineties. No GPS and still some real aircraft instruments.

Yet now in MSFS you can’t even tell what aircraft you’re in. In most cases you get a honking big fat G1000 screen in your face. It’s like playing a computer game in a computer game. What is the point?

Luckily the old Airbus 310 has real instruments as does one of the Cessna 152. PMDG does 737’s but only 737-600 upwards. I would love to step back into my old office and take the old girl for a spin again. But running a simulated G1000 computer game in a simulated aircraft on my monitor is not doing it for me.

Am I alone with being bored with all these generic G1000 panels? Does nobody miss the thrill to ident a VOR station and catching a radial?

Hello @Massey919,

We know people have different preferences, so we’re pleased to offer aircraft in all shapes and sizes and from all eras. Whether you’re someone who wants to fly the newest planes with modern glass cockpit avionics or an old school pilot who enjoys vintage aircraft with traditional instruments, there is something in the hangar for you to enjoy. Even without purchasing any add-on products from 3rd Party Developers, there are already many planes in MSFS – from single-engine GA all the way up to jetliners – that will allow you to re-live your memories of navigating via VOR without a magenta line in sight.

Thanks,
MSFS Team
