Genoa to Florence over the coast of Italy

I’m familiarizing myself with the Diamond DA62 in preparation for my tour all over Japan starting next week, since it seems like the perfect aircraft for shorter hops while retaining a good speed.

So here’s a relaxed flight over the coast of Italy from Genoa (LIMJ) to Florence (LIRQ), while trying out some freeware photogrammetry towns.

Nice images, but that’s the DA62, not the DA40. Really nice plane; one of the ones I’ve gravitated towards since I got the game.

Yeah, giant brain fart lol.

Florence is incredible. In your landing photos (on flickr) I can see my archery field with visible targets. Work done in my city is amazing.

In a weird coincidence my one visit to Florence so far was also in the DA62. Flew out of there and on to Dubrovnik via San Marino. Landscapes around Florence are great (the city itself is amazing IRL).

Funnily, my Father used to be based in Florence when he was an airline pilot for Meridiana. He hated the airport :joy:

Oh, the airport is quite problematic. Only one short runway with mountains on north side, and prevalent wind are often crosswind or north winds. No taxyways so you must execute backtrack after landing so there are very few slots avaliable. It’s a mess for pilot and for passengers.

Indeed, he hated the backtracking
