Gigabyte Nightmare

In October last year I upgraded to a new i9-14900KF and a new Gigabyte Z790 UD AX board. Video is RTX- 4070. For six months I haven’t been able to run the Sim. Inconsistent crashes all the time. Tried everything on this board. Finelly suspected the Bios. Contacted Gigabyte and was told to contact Microsoft, it is their problem.

Gigabyte since October is updating the Bios every three weeks (Highly unusual, indicating issues.) Finely on June 8 update 11C, was posted that runs the simulator but kicks the CPU temp to 90C and the GPU 88C.

Took them 8 months to tackle a motherboard performance issue. Still not confident!

Hi @flyingeagle1906 ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

Likely due to the power problems that Intel 13900K/14900K CPUs have been having with third-party motherboards that are too aggressive in their performance settings.

You might check forums for your motherboard to find out how to set it to default Intel-standard performance profiles.

Here’s an article about the issue:

thanks, - now it makes things more logical.

It should have been solved by the board manufacturer a long time ago.

Well…yeah.

One thing I’d check is how good is the AIO cooler your using, 13700K, 13900K, 14700K and 14900K produce a lot of heat under load and most AIO 240 coolers will struggle. You want a high quality AIO cooler and if you can go for 280.

You need to keep the ambient temperature in the case cool, the air coming into the case will typically be used to blow air from inside the case through the AIO cooler radiator, if its not cool then that could be an issue.

Finally if you are using an Air Cooler this typically will cause an issue unless you’ve got good airflow, and there are some great air coolers out there. The reason being is the ambient temperature in the case will heat up quickly with the GPU and CPU fans dissipating heat.
