Glide slope of RWY33 (RNAV approach) LOWS

The glidescope for every approach at LOWS/SZG RWY33 is not working.

Glide slope. Are you on LOC1/NAV1 and not GPS/FMS?

I am flying with the Longitude and i use FMS. Everything works fine but the glidescope didnt startet. On other airports and dont have this issue.

If the source isn’t on LOC/NAV the localizer nor glide slope will work. If you’re in FMS/GPS mode it will look like the localizer is working but you’re really getting the GPS signal for course guidance and not the ground based LOC for left/right guidance and glide slope for vertical guidance. The CDI needle should be GREEN. If it’s pink/magenta you will not get a glide slope unless an RNAV approach is loaded.

Here is an ILS tutorial I made a few months ago with the Longitude.

No because for RNAV you didnt need Loc or NAV. You have to use FMS for the glide slope. Sorry i didnt said it because at LOWS rwy33 is only RNAV appproach-

The FMS does not have anything to do with the glide slope. Only if doing an RNAV approach will you see a glide path (which will be a pink diamond). An ILS uses a glide slope for vertical guidance (which will be a green diamond). If you’re in FMS mode (with pink needles) the airplane won’t be able to track the ILS at all. FMS=pink needles ILS=green needles

The approach on RWY33 in a RNAV approach and the plane dont start to sink. It doesent work. Thats it. It has nothing to do with ILS. On other airports i dont have this issue.

Oh sorry, I thought you were trying to do an ILS approach from the first paragraph when you said glide slope. I will give it a try later and see what it does for me. I am curious about it. Have you tried it in any other airplane?

Yes. I have the same issue with the TBM. Both (TBM and Longitude) are using the G3000. Thank you for you help. Very nice.

I am trying it now.

Ok, it is nothing you are doing. The GP doesn’t work correctly in FS2020 until you’re beyond the last fix prior to the runway. When the runway is the next waypoint, the GP works.

They are both RNP Y to Rwy 33. The top picture is approaching WS834. Look at the GP. Once I passed that fix, it moved down some and never moved again until I flew beyond the fix before the runway (WS837) then the GP activated (turned green) and flew it down.

Here is a video I made a while back that illustrates what I just typed out. Go to the 3:50 mark and you’ll see what I mean as I put the examples side-by-side.

I hope that helps! Sorry for the confusion earlier.

Ok and ty very much for your great help. I think there was a missunderstanding because of my bad english. As i understood microsoft have to fix this bug right?

Yes but who knows when that will be. For straight in approaches you can go to flight plan, select the runway and hit activate leg and the GP will work all the way down. I did another video doing that and I descended to the runway following the glide path down from 30,000 feet and over 100 NM away. Since the approach into Salzburg has the right turn abeam the runway, I do not believe you can do that. It should show the course but it will only fly the course from the last waypoint to the runway. No worries. I have bad English sometimes and it’s my only language so don’t feel bad!

At LOWS i will use now the NAV mode of FMS and then i will manage the VS manually via the AP. This should work.

Glad that is figured out! That is a very cool approach. I wish it worked correctly. I’m going to try it with the CJ4 WTM and see if it works correctly. Most of the navigation in the CJ4 WTM works correctly.

Now i planed a flight from EDDM to LOWS in the main menu. There is now no further waypoint beetwenn WS834 and LOWS. This waypoints WS836 and WS837 … are only in the flight plan if i load the approach in game.Good to know.
