I have this glitch in some mountains after WU12, this is just from the Milford Sound airport.
Hoping someone knows why this happens and how to fix it.
Thanks a lot in advance!

Same here.
First make sure you uninstall Orbx NZ Mesh, or youâll also have water climbing a few hundred feet up the tree line in some places !
Even with ORBX NZ mesh uninstalled, Milford is still a problem, unfortunately
The steep cliffs just out of Milford Sound look as though they were created by pouring a bucket of paint from the top. I think itâs caused by AI trees being placed at âgroundâ level, then being stretched up to the next layer level - âTexture Stretchingâ- (at least, thatâs what it looks like).
Because the cliffs are so steep, the stretching goes on for hundreds of feet.
In direct response to your question what can be done about it @LuisArgerich , I think thatâs out of our hands. The AI round there needs to be fixed, or some hand crafting needs to be done by the developers.
It is everywhere in the southern alps as wellâŠeastern side is spectacular, western side of the Alps look like paint has been thrown at itâŠnot good.
NZMF looks pretty good to me!
For the time being- remove âorbx-mesh-new-zealandâ and âz_airport-nzmfâ from your Community folder.
Switch online data âoffâ, then back âonâ and clear your rolling cache to start from scratch with the new mesh.
@zkdos - I already had Orbx NZ Mesh uninstalled, as I said in my post above. I also had a âcleanâ rolling cache, as I do after every World Update. Your picture is not taken from the same place as mine. Please fly for another couple of miles or so direct ahead from where this was taken to get a view comparable to the ones I published above, and let us know if your mountains are still pretty good? The mountain I photographed is the one a mile ahead of the runway below you, exactly opposite the white boat you can see in the Sound.
Hi again @DeadCertainty, yes I can confirm very noticeable texture stretching with the clear skies weather preset a little further up the Sound from the airport (although itâs very rarely ever clear skies at NZMF!). I think this issue is different from the OPâs glitched mountain issue that appears to be a DEM conflict however.
Fortunatly the NZA team are busy working on a NZMF upgrade that addresses this issue and substainsly improves both the airport and wider terrain. See the teaser from the 3.09 minute at the end of thier NZCH trailer:
Sergio from NZA also posted some nice comparison of areas effected by texture stretching before/after on the NZA Discord:
Do you have any idea why can I be having a DEM conflict? I removed the Orbx NZ Mesh, deleted the folder and shows as something to install in content manager so it should be uninstalled. What else can be conflicting? I have no scenery for Milford sound, never even installed one.
@zkdos Thank you very much for following up on this. Itâs much appreciated! Also thank you for sharing NZAâs preview. I have Orbxâs Milford Sound on P3D, and used to love flying it because itâs a delightfully challenging (and charming) little airport. If NZA fix the texture stretching and beautify the Milford area in MSFS, Iâll be one of their first customers!
NZAâs Christchurch looked so magnificent I couldnât resist buying it! Ah, the power of persuasive advertisingâŠ
@LuisArgerich . Can you give an exact map reference where you took your picture from (or of the peak itself) and Iâll willingly take a look to see if it also appears on my setup.
Milford Sound is a total mess after WU12.
Water up the mountains everywhere.
Default parking positions in the middle of the runway!
Fire trucks and ground handlers criss crossing over the runway in suicidal missions.
A shadow airport with runway markings and apron, partially visible, to the south right over the fence.
I hope this gets fixed by Asobo immediately.
It was a better and nicer airport scenery before WU12 with the 3rd party airport there.
(yes I had deleted rolling cache after WU12. Yes I had deinstalled the previous NZMF 3rd party scenery. No I never had the Orbx Mesh in the first place.)
I canât tell from these which peak your showed in your original post. Is it the one thatâs chopped off in the top picture here?
Look for an extra folder called âz_airport-nzmfâ that gets installed by Orbx if you have the NZ Mesh and make sure that has been removed too. Itâs easy to miss and might be the cause of your problems?
Thanks! Where should this folder be? I have the steam edition and bought the Orbx mesh from Marketplace.
Try C:\Users\YourName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\Packages\Official\Steam
Not there, in that packages folder I donât have an âofficialâ subfolder⊠just folders for different aircraft but nothing from Orbx.
Maybe I should re-install the Orbx mesh and uninstall it from Content Manager? Would that remove it completely?
I just re-installed the Orbx NZ mesh, then deleted it, cleared the rolling cache and the problem persists. Not sure what is going on.
I never had the Orbx mesh, and the Milford sound scenery is a total mess here as well after WU12. What is going on is likely that the released software update is badly done and released prematurely.
I donât think they would be that evil as releasing it messed up on purpose, to create a solid customer base of people particularly interested in that region, and frustrated with the status quo, for the upcoming NZA release of the payware Milford Sound addon. No, thatâs not what they would do, that would be downright evil.
Asobo and MS what an epic fail.did anyone do a quality check for NZ ?
and how can i get rid of the snow, milford sound is frozen. this was not the case in real life since a very very long time.
Got exactly the same problem. Select parking & end up in the air & in the trees, Select a parking position from the map & I am in the middle of the runway. Having Orbx mesh installed or deleted makes no difference
