GNS530 too bright at night, any way to lower brightness?

Every night flight is impossible for me because the brightness of the display, the screens are just a mess and can not see anything. Is there a setting that is wrong on my end?

Adding my +1 here. At least in some aircraft, none of the cockpit lighting controls appear to adjust the screen brightness of the GNS530/430 units, and they’re completely unreadable at night.

Worth listing which a/c are too bright as it isn’t all of them.

The Bell 407 is too dim so is also unreadable at night.

One of the 530 pages is screen brightness. I think it’s under Aux. It has Auto and then a value of 8000 on the 407. I haven’t found a way to change Auto but can adjust the value down. I’m not sure if it has any effect as it’s already completely black but it might reduce the brightness. I expect the Auto will be overriding it though but might be worth a try.

I tried this yesterday with the Cessna Titan (has the same issue). It is possible to change it to manual brightness mode and adjust the level value, but it doesn’t seem to have any effect.

I scrolled it all the way down to 0 (from 8000… it was a LOT of scrolling), and didn’t see any change in brightness.

OK, wonder if they are reversed somehow, the screens are too dim at daytime and too bright at night.

I like to fly at night so for me the planes with GNS530 is a bust. Fenix A320 is the only plane that works flawlessly

+1 also, its nuts in VR just blinds you to the point you can’t see it. The titan is a great example. I can’t even get to where you can adjust it. But it does appear to be the “auto” feature causing it as if you move the time to day it fades out. Adjust it back to night and its freaking bright to the point you’re blinded. Was hoping someone had a fix for it :(. Some planes have a dimmer knob that does fix it, but the planes that don’t have that feature its borked.

If something like this is not fixed 3 patches down the road we are again in for a ride….

I have the opposite problem for some reason - I’m not using VR but the daytime display of GNS 530 is just fine for brightness but at night it is so dim I can’t read it.
I was able to find that brightness adjustment in the menu system and had the same observation that it was locked into “AUTO” mode.

Still not fixed?
