@FltsimFlyboy reported here to try using this command:
If I have tracking data from every pathway in a state park, could somebody technically use that to create a hikable version of said state park? Does anyone want to attempt it? I have maybe 5 miles left before completing it all.
The mechanic that allows you to get up on the wing of some of the aircraft could come in handy for scrambling.
funny true story, in October I was at Mt Fuji, hiking in the area, and cloudy weather prevented me from seeing the mountain. A month after that I repeated the hike in MSFS2024, took another photo from the same location (even the trees looked pretty much the same on the photo), I could easily merge my two pictures in Photoshop
Hi guys. If possible, try hiking in VR. It’s mindblowing!
It can on pc. It’s in experimental settings
What a post, thanks for all the positivity. Cant wait to get in the sim aghain!
This is really an aspect that not enough people are talking about - what they’ve done here, with this digital world is beyond compare. It’s absolutely astounding.
The hard core flight sim guys (Jeff Favignano calls them ‘super pilots’, at term I think I’m going to adopt) will say ‘Look, it’s meant to be a FLIGHT simulator’ - but I argue it’s more than that now, it’s gone beyond that. It’s a world simulator, meant for you to explore. By air mainly, yes, but now they’ve given us the ability to explore on foot, and that’s opened up so much incredible potential.
The ability to step into a plane, literally anywhere in the world, fly somewhere else, get off the plane, and then explore on foot, somewhere completely different, makes the whole experience 100x more ‘grounded’. It makes you truly feel immersed in the world. The fact that you can now find YouTube videos of people doing ‘Let’s Walks in MSFS2024’ speaks volumes. And nice videos they are too.
I took off somewhere in New Zealand, landed in Milford Sound, had a good wander around the airport and surrounding areas, and found a map that mentioned a lookout trail up the mountain. I couldn’t find the trail as such, but I made my way up the mountain regardless, surrounded by believable trees, plants, rocks and birdsong. It was lovely. It was magical. It made me feel like I was on one of my regular RL Sunday forest walks.
This sim is a tremendous accomplishment, and it will only get better. I’m very excited about its possibilities.
Has anyone seen a single animal yet in MSFS 2024? Feel like that’s another lie from marketing. In free flight?
Absolutely! Cows, horses, deer, sheep! They’re not as abundant as you might expect, but they’re definitely there as advertised.
Are you seeing them in free flight? This is good to hear!
Yep. For a laugh, land at Amsterdam EHAM, there’s a few randoms spawning in around there near a taxiway. I thought they were buffalo, someone else said they were cows (which makes more sense in the Netherlands )
Is there a simple “How to” for the hiking. I saw somebody on top of Mount Everest and cannot imaging how he hiked/flew there?
Yup! for example, take care when landing at Jackson Hole (KJAC):
Awww- he’s so cute that you want to go right up & give him a big cuddle…
On xcloud version, I can see there is only one item in advanced option, ie experimental settings. However I cannot unfold the experimental settings and adjust the specific options in the experimental settings. It seems that the setting is preset and not modifiable.
Yes it’s only available on pc for reason
Yes, also in free flight.
No need to fly to exotic places - you can meet cattle, sheep and horses even in the vicinity of your home town.
Fly low and slow (e.g. a heli), and you’ll see them in certain pastures. You can even use the heli to chase them - they run away from noise. Get out, walk carfully, and you can get real close.
I even caught myself wanting a method to stroke them…
Yep, I’ve finally encountered some via career mode. Love it
