This one will be my no. 1 ga plane when they finnaly polish it.
I have read the link.
I feel that my situation is the same.
However, I am not sure of the conditions under which it occurs, as the CHT can be very stable under certain circumstances.
Also, the tailwheel steering seems to behave strangely.
It does not turn as small as DC designs, is that correct?
I completely agree that GAS SUPER STEARMAN is a great add-on. ![]()
Hello DMCKNIGHT78
Before deciding on the fact that your engine stops abruptly because of a bug. I can not describe in detail all the points to check before releasing the parking brake and drive on the track so I advise you to read the documentation that is provided with the addon, see to download it on the site of the Editor.
This aircraft is equipped with an advanced engine management module that takes into account the temperature of the engine, the temperature of the CHT, the wear of the engine, etc.
If the oil temperature has not reached 40°C the engine will not be able to be used properly. The OIL BYPASS lever is provided to shunter the radiator and allow the oil to rise faster in temperature âŠ
Then you must take into account the values of RPMS and never exceed the maximum values for the different phases of flight (2500 RPMs for cruising) otherwise, you risk to crash.
The bug of Maxuss1579 mentioned is an instability of the gauges OIL and CHT when the engine is at IDLE so I do not think it is necessarily your problem. It was also found that the temperature progression of CHT had to be reduced so as not to reach the limit so quickly and to allow longer flight.
Before putting this addon on the Marketplace, more than 10 users have tested it so some on XBox and after an adaptation phase, if we respect the manual it is quite possible to make significant flights. I personally bought a XBox controller to check that the controls were functional on this type of machine.
I have to my credit on horometers more than 25h of flight.
As for the 2 described bugs above, I fixed them several days ago, and the test team is validating the next update to eliminate any omissions. Please, be patient.
Dear LagaffeVFR5476. ![]()
Thank you for your detailed reply.
I have read the manual.
However, after landing and stopping, even at MP 10.5in/hg, 800RPM and fuel boost pump on, the CHT rise does not stop and the engine blows.
I also often encounter cases where the CHT rise does not stop when the fuel boost pump is turned off while cruising above 2000ft.
I believe that the behavior with respect to engine temperature is strange.
But I will follow your reply and take the time to verify.
Appreciate your advice, and Iâll keep you posted. ![]()
Read the documentation is essential but nevertheless this addon is a package with a more advanced engine management that takes into account more parameters than does MSFS.
An aircraft combined with a variable pitch propeller and an auxiliary electric fuel pump makes it possible to manage the behaviour of the engine more finely.
The pump is effectively used in sensitive operations: take-off and landing, but it also allows to bring more gasoline which has the effect of reducing the combustion temperature and therefore reduce a little the temperature of oil and CHT. This aspect is modelled.
The pitch prop lever allows you to take advantage of the full power of the propeller but when it is used at 100% continuously, it uses power and therefore also warms up the engine. For this, as soon as you are at cruising altitude, it is advisable to reduce the pitch to 70% ~ 80% and compensate with the throttle lever so as to obtain the best operating parameters. These settings are shown in all my engine.cfg files. In doing this the engine is less stressed, with the desired Manifold value allows to reduce the temperature of the engine in a deviated way.
By combining the two levers and the pump one can significantly reduce temperatures if one monitors the OIL/CHT/PRESS gauge to help in this task.
I wanted to make a more precise management of the engine and not an aircraft like so many others that is closer to the arcade than the simulation.
I have been flying with Super Stearman for a long time since then.
It is proving to be quite an advanced and very enjoyable aircraft. ![]()
I now have a better understanding of the correlation between the propeller pitch lever and manifold pressure, and can also fly with the fuel boost pump turned off!
I understood that the video in the previous link was probably a state of advanced engine wear.
I apologize for my very rude language. ![]()
And thank you for your very generous cooperation.
I will continue to fly with this wonderful Stearman. ![]()
The problem is, with current reset option on xbox, I dont know what state of wear&tear my engine is on xbox (no efb).
Iâm not a pilot but I like to read and learn, and that kind of manoeuvring on an airplane like this is described in a lot of documents.
For the Reset function, it does two things if the BATTERY switch is on OFF.
It resets all the main variables of the Enhanced Mod to zero or to the correct values so that it can function properly again and changes the battrie so that it is loaded at 100%. Therefore the degree of wear is reset to its initial value: no wear when starting the aircraft for the first time.
If the BATTERY is ON, nothing is made (see the manual).
So each time I reset (bat off) the plane is back to factory state?
Yes, it was that I have written yesterday. Generally this is how a âReset switchâ works in software. Now, if you have an other idea on how the âReset switchâ should do âŠ
You may have expected to reset only certain parameters and not âwear & tearsâ.
In this case, it would have been necessary to count the number of actions on the switch and assign particular zeroings according to the number of times the switch was clicked and reset this counter to zero when the box map is closed, what causes the fact of having another variable to know when this box is open or closed ⊠Do you know the numbers of LVars managed in this addon ?
GAS Stearman Model 75 and Super IB75A Updated Today
Today we have updated both Models to reflect input received from users. The Change Logs are below:

The Marketplace has been updated and doing a final review. SimMarket is updated. Just Flight will likely take a few days but will have the files by EOB today
How do we get the updates from the GAS store?
Those of you who purchased directly from us through our Website will, as before, be sent links to download your new versions. This will take a few days as we are limited to the number of update (200) that can be sent on any given day. If you have not received a link by Saturday reach out to me at my goldenagesimulations support email
Is an improvement sound for ib75a included in 2.0 update?
There are no sound environment changes
I meant engine sound (wwise) - update other stearman recived recently.
I bought the Stearman 75 (in its four variants) directly from GAS but the IB75A in the Marketplace.
Despite being two separate purchases from two separate vendors theyâre listed in MSFS 2024 as variants of the one aircraft and will appear in âChange Aircraftâ as the currently selected variant.
Just in case youâre as easily confused as I am - or as hopeless as the person(s) who designed the 2024 interface.
Oh, and thereâs only one IB75A variant listed - the single-seat versions of the IB75A are treated as liveries - those are some paintjobs!
Again no change in the sound environment for the Super Stearman
We have no control over how 2024 displays the various models and liveries of legacy 2020 models. I suggest raising that concern over on the 2024 forum âbugsâ section.
I absolutely hate the decisions Asobo made around the UI for the hangar in 2024. HATE
It was a bit convoluted before, but it worked great and I had total control over the layout of my hangar.
Now it doesnât work at all.
Iâve expressed thoughts many times over at Devsupport, and received feedback they have no plans to change it and they think itâs way better now.
Sadly, the Hangar could be even sooo much cooler than it ever has been⊠Especially for airplane lovers. Unfortunately, they made it even worse than it was, all for the sake of sales in the Marketplace (donât even start me on that UI).
