Hi. I decided to get the standard edition of FS2020 while it’s on sale for 50% while I save for 2024. I just miss flying. I doubt I will get 2024 at launch. I would love to fly a 787. I understand it’s not in the standard edition and I don’t want to spend $60 just for the Dreamliner (I really wish they sold this thing separately). I would rather save up and get the 2024 premium deluxe one day. Also sadly,I’m bracing myself to be disappointed since I only have standard edition of the limited choices. Like not expecting someone to make a freeware 787 that a standard edition owner can download. I’m assuming all aircraft made by 3rd party creators are using the base model of planes within the given versions of the game.
But I’m wondering if there are more airliners that will work in 2020 standard edition besides the 2 airbuses and the 747? I like to do long hauls a lot and just looking to expand my airline choices for FS2020. Any tips or recommendations of some good airliners is welcome.

I wish I could help further, but I don’t fly tubeliners.
I don’t think there are any freeware alternatives (that come to my mind) that are anyway close to the 747-8 after AAU2 and the inibuilds A320Neo and A310 that comes with the sim. I personally fly both the 747-8 and A310 on long haul flights even though I have high-fidelity payware options.
FlyByWire is great, but that’s a modified default A320Neo.

I just discovered that all premium deluxe content from 2020 will transfer over to Standard 2024 so now I’m thinking about getting the premium deluxe 2020 version while it’s 50% off as an investment so I only have to buy the standard version of 2024 whenever I get to it. So if I go for the PD version my choices for freeware will increase also. Thoughts?

Keep in mind that you will be able to purchase individual premium/deluxe aircraft in MSFS2024, so you might be better off keeping the standard version and picking the aircraft you are interested in, depending on how many of them there are. I don’t know the pricing of the individual aircraft.
As for more freeware options, you can get freeware 787-9 and 787-8 if you own the 787-10 that comes in premium deluxe edition.
There is the 117 from Delta Simulations over on Flightsim.to. It’s free, and it’s got all the right stuff.

For the record, I pulled the trigger and got the Premium Deluxe for half off. I am now happy because I do like to have the best as we all should. This changed my strategy because my original plan was to buy standard and save up for Premium 2024. All I need to do now is wait for another great sale sometime next year and buy the standard 2024 version. By then maybe some bugs will be fixed and great new add-ons will be available as it begins to mature. I feel like getting this 4 years later, I have so many choices right now. So no rush for 2024 at launch.
However, maybe this question about getting freeware airliners for Standard Edition may still help someone who does not have the Premium Deluxe.
