Gotfriends AS33-ME 2024 version, drag from spoilers on the runway

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: When spawning on the runway the spoilers are deployed by default. I forgot to retract them and the wilga which was towing me could not move the aircraft until I retracted the spoilers. When stationary there should have been no drag generated by the spoilers so the glider should have started a takeoff roll with the drag increasing as it got faster and faster. Already reported to Got Friends who suggested I report it here.

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

Every time I spawn on a runway and leave the spoilers extended.

REPRODUCTION STEPS

Please list clear steps you took in order to help our test team reproduce the same issue:

  1. Select any towplane for takeoff

  2. Leave spoilers extended

  3. Try to take off

YOUR SETTINGS

From the GotFriends Discord (got-freimds-news, posted by Jonx on the 10th of August:

Air Brake Reminder: We’ve chosen to keep the Air Brakes fully open (100%) on spawn. This acts as a “Parking Brake” to prevent the glider from rolling on uneven terrain. In MSFS 2024, it’s also helpful for pre-flight inspection visibility if they are open. This applies to runway spawns as well, to avoid the glider creeping into the towplane on sloped uneven fields, which is common with grass runways. So don’t forget to close them prior to signaling the tow vehicle for take-off.

By design, I would like to say, and not a bug.

Newtonian physics says no velocity no drag. It’s like a windless rainy day with an umbrella as long as you stand still there will be no drag , the drag doesnt start till you begin to move. very definitely a bug but not a major one. I am not complaining about the spoilers being deployed that is correct what I am reporting is drag where newtonian laws say there can be no drag.

You’re absolutely right about Sir Isaac Newton! :+1:

Let me say what was written on the GF-discord in other words:
The position of the spoilers trigger the PARKING-BRAKE!
Have a look at the screenshot with the Behaviours Window open. In the Behaviours Window you can see the code of the Spoilers_Handle-Brake-Controller.

The code translated means:
When the position of the handly is bigger than 95% AND the ground speed is less than 2 knots the PARKING BRAKE is set.
If any of the mentioned conditions are not met, the PARKING BRAKE is not set.

Moved to User Support Hub > Aircraft & Systems as the issue is not related to Sim Update 4 Beta | MSFS 2024
