GPU 100% load in settings/menu

i would like it if i could just minimise the sim using little resources whilst i do something else for a bit and then return, instead of exiting and reloading. every menu in settings gives 100%GPU and CPU is going nuts too. I understand the globe is in the background, but the home screen , it looks like a static image and not 3D, i’m fine whith the GPU usage being utilised when i choose free flight or a challenges, but the home screen shouldn’t use this much power.

A quick work around would be limiting FPS to e.g. 62Hz in your display driver.

What’s even better is i go into Afterburner and put my power limit to the lowest setting, this brings the GPU down to 120W, in comparison to idle wattage ( 20w ) it could be lower.

Ok i just limited the sim to 1FPS in RivaTuner which works.

Hi @DirtyGolem ,

When I pause a flight by hitting escape, the GPU load increases from say, 75% to 99%.

This also happens when I display another window over the MSFS window, such as the Task Manager or a Notepad window.

CPU usage is unaffected.

@DirtyGolem - is this the same as what you’re seeing?

I have the frame rate limited to 60FPS using NVidia Control Panel, which it sticks to on the splash screen and in-game. Loading sequences go up to more than 1000FPS, though the GPU load remains low (about 30%).

I have an RTX 4080.

I was just noticing the GPU usage in the main menu and navigatign the settings being so high for no reason , even when the globe wasn’t on screen , i never noticed what you described. I mentioned above that i have a workaround by adding msfs2024 to RivaTuner and limiting FPS to 1FPS, this brings the usage to idle watts , and this way i can minimise MSFS and do other stuff for a while , sometimes hours befor ei come back, instead of closing and reloading. The only thing is that, RAM usage is still high, but with 32GB , there is enough room for minimised MSFS and doing other stuff , web browsing, YT etc.

OK, different issue then.

I’ve raised a new case
