GPU core clock fluctuations

Hey guys,

I have an MSI RTX 3080 GPU (poor me right?). I seem to fly for around 15 minutes or so in mostly Ultra mode then FPS drop from around 35 to 10-15. I’ve looked into MSI’s afterburner and the GPU and Memory clocks drop way off by around 1/3. The temps never really get above 70c. I don’t see this happening in any other game that I can tell. Any ideas on what’s going on? Thx

Not sure, please check other comments on this forum, but it seems an issue on MSFS after last update. ASOBO is working on that and we can expect a hot fix soon (I hope). I also have a RTX 3080 GPU with a I9 10900K, and at this moment I have the same issue.

Chack this comment from ASOBO about performance issues.

My best guess would be that the RTX throttles down because the CPU is unable to keep it busy. It’s quite evident by now that most performance issues in MSFS are caused by the CPU not producing enough data fast enough. There are probably many different reasons for that.

Known issue happening to a lot of us since the last update. The GPU will go down to very low usage or even 0% and the game freezes, stutters or lags where it becomes a slideshow and then it goes back to normal. It can happen in an airport, over the sea, over terrain, in clouds etc. anywhere, any time.

I’m using a Ryzen 5900 and utilization scores and monitoring show it’s not even breaking a sweat.
