GPU Junction Temps

Hi all,

So I’m running some tests using some default weather settings (medium clouds, flying into Anchorage, Alaska), and monitoring my temps. I have an AMD system - A570 board, Ryzen 7 3700x CPU, and an AMD Radeon RX 5700XT graphics card.

Running in HDR 10 mode, graphics at Ultra, High-End, or Medium settings results with a GPU junction temp of 90 - 93 degrees C, while the GPU core is at 65 - 67 C. I know the core temps are fine, but should I be concerned about the junction temps? Any thoughts?

Thanks!

Not in the slightest! AMD have stated that their cards when gaming hard are fine with hot spot/junction temps of 110c.

I have similar specs with AMD Radeon RX 5700XT graphics card and getting the same temperatures. With such temperatures I am a bit worried about other componets as I haven’t payed much attention to colling them. So I simply limited FPS to 30, now I am getting GPU junction temp around 70.

Junction temps are always significantly higher due to thermal resistance within the package. This is true for any semiconductor. As long as the case temperature is within the manufacturers defined parameters the junction temperature will be fine.
