GPU problem after v1.31.22.0

Hello,
Just after having updated to MSFS 1.31.22.0 I got a CTD involving my graphic card (rtx 3070). All drivers are up-to-date and there is no problem with others simulator such as xp12 on the same computer. Did you encounter such problem.
Thank you for comments
Best regards

PS There is no error code just a message “there is a problem with the graphic card” and a CTD

Maybe try taking your graphics card out and then putting it back in. I had a problem with mine a couple of years ago and by doing that fixed the problem. You can also check windows event manager and see if there is an error.

Hello,
Thank you for answering. I was surprised that the next run was OK but another run was followed by a new CTD : after the message concerning the GPU there was now a code error as shown in screenshot below.

Do you think I have to open a ticket with zendesk.
Best regards

It has already been reported many times. They know about it. They stated in the release notes for SU12 that it had been fixed. It hasn’t. I’ve had it a few times since

Hello,
Opening a new ticket is therefore useless. How many times did you have again this problem since it was indicated to have been solved ? In my case four times since yesterday !!
Best regards

I think it is 3 or 4 for me but I think that’s because the sim update replaced the latest DLSS .dll’s I was using with the old ones they ship. Once I but the newer one’s back I haven’t had another crash touchwood

Hello,
I tried again twice and the same CTD after about 2 mn. I think there is no way except a new ticket and a lot of waste time.
Thank you very much for comments
Best regards

It also could be caused by a corrupt file on your computer. Just to be sure that this isn’t the case run system file checker. If you don’t know how to do this open this link. Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support

I have reason to believe that there is some relation due to a faulty flightsimulator.exe
Because when i have this message, and look at my windows logs it state that its faulty in flightsimulator. exe happens anywhere in the world when changes abruptly like altitude are done
It looks complex but also in logs it give warnings about certificate

Also i thought it could be related to d2d…dll in windows/ system32 directory not sure what it said exactly ( im not at my desktop atm) but it was mentioned

First i thought it was because i planted a second 3060 ti graphicscard in my computer
But there are no conflicts and by reading in forum i see more of this problem

So if you find in your logs similair or related events please post
I have not yet filed a zendesk ticket due lack of time, but will when later next days if i can find apropriate logs all together and hope this gets fixed.

It was one of the first thing I did : no corrupted file was found.
Thank you for helping

Hello,
In the dxdiag.txt file it was clearly mentionned that he problem was coming from flightsimulator .exe. Then I had a look on general options of MSFS and noticed that DX12 (beta) was activated. I changed in DX11 and the problem was no more present (for how long ?). Do you think this is a correct solution (I’m not a specialist} ?
Best regards

Im not a specialist either but i love dx12for her normally smoothnes since it was introduced to the sim.
But i would never change ie rename, something that is called dx12 beta activated to dx11 activated if i understand you well.
What i would do in that case change the word activated to passive or something like that.

Also i have noticed that the nvngx_dlss.dll was reverted to when you had it updated to version 3.1.11 it is set back to version 2.46 during su12
So anyway if i find the time somewhere tomorrow i check change and see and report back
For now i bookmark this
Thanks

It’s possible the CTD is related to a specific configuration and/or add-on in relation to the DX version used. Since SU10, I can no longer use DX11 without getting a CTD within a few minutes of starting the sim. If I switch to DX12, no CTDs at all. So the inverse can also happen for some people.

Hello,
I don’t understand why this change should not have been made as it was proposed in the general options of the simulator. Then I assumed that this was without risk. Since this change I ran three MSFS sessions and everything was OK. I hope this problem with XP12 (if any) will be resolved quickly.
Thanks again for comments.

What does your windows Event Manager say after this happens? Sometimes this can give you a clue about the problem.

Hello,
All modifications occur on 03/25/2023. Windows Event Manager wrote a list of errors that day. These errors are relative to MSFS and are completely incomprehensible to me and probably not to you. It’s why I made a copy.

msfs-errors-03252023.txt (20.3 KB)

Anyway everything is OK now with MSFS.
Many thanks for comments.

Everything was perfect until SU12 and I updated the NVIDIA driver at the same time. Now the sim stops into the first 5 minutes of flying and says “program has stopped because the graphics card is overheating, or bad drivers”. I’m going to try going back to the previous driver version. Hoping that solves it. I see a few people on the nvidia forum had the same issue.

I’m seeing exactly the same thing. I have a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 and I’m getting messages about the card overheating or a bad driver after a few minutes of flying time.

Never had a major issue with MSFS but frankly it’s unusable until this is resolved, hopefully with another update soon.

Hi there,

Almost the same issue. I got the overclocking // driver error after updating to the newest GeForce Experience driver (RTX 3070).

Hello,
Two days before the update to 1.31.22.0 I also updated the RTX 3070 driver (531.41). Since my change DX12 to DX11 in the simulator no more CTD with message concerning a problem with the GPU. Obviously it is only a solution before another update of MSFS.
