Graphics issues... I hope you can help

When I load up the computer (max settings), I get some severe stuttering. This is completely different than what I’ve seen in the past, which is why I’m writing here.

In the video, I’m at KEWR (near New York) with many add-ons for all the airports in the area (KEWR, KLGA, KJFK, as well as a few others). I think I’m placing a fairly large load on everything in my computer.

At some point, everything appears to become too much for the computer to handle and I get some severe stuttering. In the case of the video, I add some traffic (FSLTL).

Once I quickly move my camera view, everything goes downhill from there. The weird thing is that I can go into the General options/Graphics menu, move any slider one notch, and everything works fine again until I move the camera once again.

I just upgraded to a 4070 TI Super and a new 5800X3D. I also have DLSS frame gen turned on (see video for setting). I though i should be able to crank up the graphics, but I can’t at the moment, unless I’m in an area with less scenery, then there doesn’t appear to be a problem.

I’m actually thinking that even the new CPU isn’t enough and may have to go up to an AM5 platform.

I hope someone out there has seen this and figured out an easy fix. Yes, I’ve tried a few different drivers with no luck, and benchmark/burn-in programs pass with flying colors.

Here’s a short 5 minute video showing the issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated because I really don’t want to turn the graphics down.

  1. When using FSLTL go to traffic menue and set all settings at “airport life” and “leisure and sea traffic” < 5% …
  2. Test the issue in DX11
  3. Do you have RBAR enabled in UEFI/BIOS settings?
  4. You’re cranking up your FS settings very much too high, eg. all to max/ultra and LODs 400/200 … you’ll also be very satisfied with high preset, and LOD aon 200/100

That’s the first I’ll try to investigate.

Also I haven’t already seen ANY hardware config, where the RAM usage of the GPU AND (!!) the system-RAM ist used full up. That’s what your afterburner is showing us. So it’s obvious that your system is swapping data out of system/GPU RAM to the local storage disk. If it’s not a nvme-disk, you’re getting very worse seek/access time from your spinning disk.

When you change the LOD settings, your RAM usage drops about 2GB … so that’s clear, where you’re have to investigate to tune up you settings

Thanks for the reply. RBAR was off in the bios. I didn’t even consider that. It must have defaulted to off after updating the bios for the 5800X3D. I’ve only noticed the issue I’m having while using DX12. When I use DX11, I usually have no issues, except I don’t get the benefits for DLSS/frame gen.

I’m using all nvme drives, so I’m not sure how I could limit the RAM usage. I will have to research this if that is a problem. Maybe I am misunderstanding. I will have to figure out a way to tune the system better for MSFS.

I checked everything you mentioned (1-4) and everything appears to be great so far while dropping the LOD to 200/100 like you mentioned. The stuttering I had before is gone. It must be a bug with DX12 (maybe?). It shouldn’t be that bad, even if I turn the detail to ‘ultra’ on everything.

Thanks for the help!
