Ground texture resolution downgrade with certain textures, some seemingly unaffected. Seems to be custom scenery thats affected, while no change from the addons side was made


ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue:

I noticed the other day when flying out of EKVG, the ground textures for the apron and other asphalt surfaces was very low res compared to what i’ve normally see, this is a custom scenery and i didnt change anything apart from updating the sim to the new beta build. I first really noticed it in the latest build, since i didn’t get to fly the day the 1.3.19.0 build came out, i just had enough time to check the runway so i spawned there directly. It’s not as visible from the flight deck, as it is from the walkaround view.

Nope.

[PC Only] Did you remove all your community mods/add-ons? If yes, are you still experiencing the issue?
I noticed it at a community addon airport, so no. But it didnt happen until this update, the addon hasnt changed and some parts of it are still unaffected

FREQUENCY OF ISSUE

No change between sessions, its always there at the spots where the textures are affected.

How often does this occur for you (Example: Just once, every time on sim load, intermittently)?

  1. For now i’ve only been able to reproduce this at EKVG made by superspud. It wasnt an issue before the aa regression fixes and as show in the media examples, not all textures are affected.

I will try my best to find examples at default sceneries, but i think this could potentially affect payware scenery from the marketplace also, so if theres a way for asobo to troubleshoot this, please look into this! :slight_smile:

I think this is different, this just seems like a texture resolution/LOD bug. No zigzag or anything like that here! It does seem very local to the superspud scenery, but im trying to figure out if it happens at any other default/marketplace scenery in the sim :slight_smile:

Just found another scenery where it happens: KBCE Bryce Canyon. This is from the sim marketplace, so something is def bugged here, it has affected two different sceneries for sure now.

It kinda looks like an oil painting :wink:

Kinda seems like some of the textures supplied by the sim just has that issue, so every scenery that uses those will be affected i guess.

If you can it would be great, if not I would recommend to report the issue directly to the 3rd party developers. Except the External 3rd Party Products , all other sub-categories of Sim Update 1 Beta | MSFS 2024 are only for reports related to the base sim or 1st party developments.

I will continue to look, but it does seem like its not affecting autogen, but those who uses the textures supplied by asobo in the SDK

I’ve seen this before in the 2024 version superspud made of EKVG, the ground textures had the same low res look. 2020 version he has doesn’t have the res issue, until the AA fix came. So thats why im very confused what happened here, but yes if its really just 3rd party only, hopefully it requires an update from them.

I moved the topic the External 3rd Party Products . If 3rd party developers identify an issue with the SDK then they’ll need to report it to the dev support forum https://devsupport.flightsimulator.com. In case you can identify a base airport with that issue I can always move it back to the original category.

Thank you, that does seem way more appropriate since i’m struggling so hard to find any default airport with this issue :wink:
