Ah yes. that explains them using the ground from FS98.
We haven’t had the world locally since FSX. 2020 streamed the world and it was fine. Just that 2024 also streams airports and aircraft as well as all of the activities
The textures in 2020 are much sharper. The colorgrading in some areas is much better in 2020, especially in the Alps.
The first picture in each case is 2024:

Do you have 750 4TB drives to spare? ![]()
No, it’s not. In 2020, the world has also been streamed. The planes and WUs were stored locally and we’re talking about PB of storage for the world textures.
But if the planes and standard textures and objects were saved locally, then there would be a lot less streaming. I think that would improve the situation significantly.
Nothing to indicate this is a bandwidth issue. if it were, texture resolution would continue to improve if left over time, which it does not. And users are reporting bandwidth well in excess of maximum requirements.
Low resolution topology, short draw distances, low resolution textures, suggest this is either a LOD (level of detail) issue or a limitation in the quality of assets being sent to the user. Perhaps a bug, perhaps a requirement imposed by the developer to meet performance targets. It’s hard to say without more feedback from the dev team.
Terrible blur on Xbox. Climbing out of Chicago area. And the city is gray, no textures load unless immediately up close

Exactly the same issue on my end. Over exposed ground textures that lack in color and detail. White spots in the terrain on many places. Not like this at all in MSFS2020.
Well, according to the latest dev. update the issue(s) are still under investigation. So probably we won’t see any improvements with the upcoming SU1…
It would be a HUGE bummer if that’s the case.
For the developers with blind eyes. Any explanation needed?
TLOD 400.
I wanted to help you and marked the parts we mean. Maybe this helps…

I did a comparison screenshot of the Austrian Alps a while back, 2020 vs 2024, and the difference is shocking. But it’s not just the ground that’s 35000ft away. The one thing I’m always immediately struck by when I go back to 2020 from 2024 is how much sharper the cockpit detail is in 2020. 2024 looks like I forgot to put on my glasses
I don’t think they read the forums. Community managers do and are supposed to give feedback to the devs. But don’t worry. I opened several tickets on zendesk about blurry textures and I’m sure hundreds of other users did the same. I got no answers and my tickets were marked as resolved after a week or so.
This sim it’s just a pile of bugs and should have never been released in this state and what makes me really upset is that instead of pushing micro updates ( that is the common practise now) they will squish big updates in SU making costumers wait months to have a 5 minutes dev time fix. They should understand that for many people the sim is unplayable from day 1
TLOD should not matter, its just pure bad low res textures which is mainly a streaming bottleneck problem.
Same thing happened with 2020, this is all by design to allow the sim run on xbox.
Yea the difference is huge. 2020 is so much sharper. 2024 has this haze look everywhere, its very annoying. Im surprised more people arnt talking about it.
Not a peep from the devs. Only msfs support. It’s ridiculous both no comment for months now on this from the main devs and ridiculous it was marketed but not ready at launch.
