Ground textures are blurry, LOD System is too aggressive, and Loss of Detail in 2024 - streamed scenery AND CLOUDS looks worse than 2020

Would be great if there was something in the works from Asobo or on of their partners to use AI to upscale the low resolution bing/azure ground imagery for better detail.

Its a mess here as well. All sceneries are broken.I just deleted my order for a BB2. What the use if a great VR headset with a game with such bad popping scenery. Pitty…

Just read somewhere to turn off dynamic settings. When I turned this of scenery started to load normal again. Need to run some more test. Maybe this is causing the problem .

I have noticed this, and i think its a bug in the engine. The LOD at higher latitudes in the world are terrible, the satelite imagery is fine, its just the sim that thinks its at terrain lod 10 when its terrain lod 200 in the settings.

I’ve noticed in some areas like Europe/Australia/NZ where the base imagery is very low quality and it only looks acceptable at high altitide when zoomed out. I think this isn’t as related to LOD though and rather that the source imagery just sucks.

The LOD on road traffic is terrible and we should have a slider to control that. Can only see road traffic that is in a very close circle to the aircraft.

100%, and the traffic itself should be improved. I don’t get why it has to be so fuzzy/shaky, especially with DLSS on. It should look more like in xplane, just normal solid models.

Looks to me like it was something added at the start of developing 2020 and deemed good enough and never looked at again. The traffic the other sim is brilliant.

Yes, this is really very distracting. I have road traffic set to ultra, and it looks like the cars are following the plane—1 km ahead, there are no cars.

What I’m also wondering is whether the road traffic and ship traffic run on the main thread or on another core. Otherwise, they really should be moved off the main thread.

Even with TLOD 400, 2024 aerials appear to be much lower resolution than in 2020.

Feedback snapshot says this issue is being worked on in SU4, but i haven’t seen any progress on this at all.

Is it normal the photogrammetry look very bad? All building look like horrible. How can I improve this?

PG has been hit and miss for me too recently. Sometimes it loads in way too slowly despite 500mbits down.

You cannot. If the problem is not on your end (bandwidth), that is …

Completely normal, more so of the objects have complex surfaces.

When I first played MSFS2024, my first flight was to the grand canyon. It looked so good and now its a mushy mess. Gotta fix this. Have 800mbits down.

Cheers

That’s the summary of this topic. Unfortunately since Nov 2024 it’s beeing ignored.

This is exactly the point

This has been a perfectly reasonable and logical request that’s been around since the early days of FS2020. It’s been ignored time and time again. At this point, it’s pretty safe to assume it’s never going to happen.

There’s probably some absurd internal logic behind it that only the devs or the marketing team can make sense of.

Has there been any indication of this being fixed/improved in SU4 beta yet?
