Ground Textures during flight are pixelated and low resolution

Has anyone else experienced within the last month or two that the ground textures during flight have been reduced in quality? It seems like once you are at cruise altitude above 10,000 AGL the ground textures start to look blurry and low resolution. It seems like this is a recent change. Anyone else experiencing this issue?

I really hope they aren’t nerfing the cloud-streamed ground textures in order to make this sim run on Xbox, but that could be an explanation to what we’re seeing.

Yes, it looks grim when you compare it to ortho textures in X-Plane. It seems to be in the feedback bug thingy but they say it’s being fixed with world updates. The issue isn’t with the resolution of the base images, it’s that the images reduce in resolution the further away you travel/climb.

Never had that issue. Post a picture so we can see what are you talking about.

Seems like its just the way the sim was designed from day 1 for me. As the you climb the resolution of the ground textures reduces. Would be nice if they added a setting for this in the UI.

That’s looks like low resolution texture. What Flight level was it taken ?

They had already said that they know the transition altitude at which the textures go from high res to low res is fairly low. And they want to address it in a future patch.

Just tried on my rig, take the A320 to FL350 and hmm… looks amazing on my rig.

I9-9900K, 32GB, 2080Super, Most settings on ultra and high.

Try to give it the same try, might be you are in area with low textures. I did this test over my local airport KORL (Orlando) and just took the A320 with a SLEW mode to FL350.

Try to see if you got the same resaults.

I think in areas of Photogrammety the issue is less pronounced as seen in your photos.

I run a 10700k and 3080 and still experience this issue as described.

Photogrammetry is not the same as bing ground textures

In my case the ground textures are bad even when you’re on the ground too. I have everything set to ultra at 2k and the game looks awful.

Do you have bing data enabled in settings? Sometimes after an update it gets disabled and you get some really bad looking textures on the ground because it isn’t actually downloading the photos.

Also I’ve noticed that after recent updates you pretty much have to have Terrain LOD at 200 to get ground textures to look somewhat good.

never experienced that, but on which graphics settings are you? Could you double check?

Yep, all the bing and photogammetry are on. I’ve set LOD to max and toyed around with different settings in the Usercfg.opt to no avail. My best guess is it’s something to do with the network, like Asobo just decided to stop letting some of us download high-res textures.

Yes! I fly at YMMB (Moorabbin airport) and it all used to look really well done, now it looks like FSX graphics…

100% agree, I have old videos to compare and they are definitely more pixelated now. I can provide pictures if required, but I think it is pretty obvious.

Yes, I’ve noticed it at lower altitudes too. I thought my photogrammetry or data got turned off, but all my settings are still correct. I had assumed it was just me because I hadn’t seen anyone talk about it.

I noticed this since 2 months now, especially above FL300 the ground texture looks terrible.
