I thought you could download GSX Pro in demo mode - I just want to get the manual so I can take a look before buying - but it asks for activation before anything?
there is.
you can download the FSDT Installer, then choose GSX Pro there.
Once installed the manula will state what is available before activating it.
If you like what you see, you buy the activation key, activate your copy and have full access instantly.

That’s what I tried but soon as you click to install it pops up an activation window.
type a short number of your choice into the activaton field and you are in trial mode.

GSX Trial options and License
To install GSX, you need to purchase a License first. However, there’s no need to
buy a license to use GSX on any FSDT airport, it’s completely free to use with all its
features, with no limitations. Buying GSX will allow you to use it on any airport,
both default or 3rd party.
Because of this, and a license would be normally required to Install GSX, the “Install” button will be available as long as you have at least one FSDT airport active
so you can install GSX without a license, and use it on FSDT airports. Without a
license, the program will work on 3 additional airports, KSFO, LIMC and EDDM.

So I have KSDF scenery purchased through the in-game Marketplace, would that be enough to download and try GSX Pro at that location? And in the afirmative case, how should I proceed?
40€ is not cheap for sometimes playing a bit around with one or two ground service trucks 
I would really like to have a demo to test GSX at least on one airport, to check full Fenix Airbus compatibility, to see if the animations for refueling and cargo are clean and well-animated (without clipping parts stuck half in the plane, or even trucks driving right through my parking plane etc.).
And I also need to see if Ld3 cargo containers are possible on the forward cargo room of the Fenix.
There is a demo mode if you own an airport from FSDreamteam. Check their website for details.
The demo works without any FSDreamteam airports installed, it’s limited to a couple or so.
