Doh! Somehow my brain switched the country in-between the map and the forum! I probably should have gone to bed yesterday.
Oh yeah! Have a look at Beirut in what looks like the same place and there is a much bigger airport with 2 runways. Looks like the same city planner worked on both locations though!

That was an interesting search. I was surprised that there are so many towns in that region that sit on the top of hills and mountain crests. In most other parts of the wold that I‘ve seen, villages and towns are usually closer to the valley floor.

Excellent! I wasn’t expecting anyone to get that without clues, unless they were from near the region. Even most Indians don’t know much about it.
You’re right, a city of 300k people set on the top of the hills instead of the bottom, quite unusual I think.

That part of the world is absolutely stunning. The entire north of India is dotted with towns like this. Definitely recommend Darjeeling as well!

I think greece is right but more on of the northern greece mines around Ptolemaida/Amyndeon.
…it is Ptolemaida, I am shure, seen from east-northeast.

Interesting…the imagery in Bing Maps seems to be more recent than in the sim. I found quite a few places where that’s the case lately. It looks like the Bing team are busy updating the imagery, which is great news as I’m sure we’ll see that in the sim eventually.
