Welcome to the 48th flight event in the Gunpilot’s Challenging Flights adventure series. This challenging flight event is located in the High Country region of Victoria, Australia, and is again guaranteed to give you more of the heart pounding and sweaty palms experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.
Gunpilot is proud to gather the crew around again for a very challenging flight thru the High Country of his home state of Victoria. This flight will have it all regarding challenging landings, including:
Lake shores,
Farm paddocks
Ski Resorts
Mountains/Ridges
Wineries
National Parks
River banks
Dam Walls
We fly from a farm grass airstrip and will be tasked with 20 landings in the Grand Caravan. Thrown into the mix will be a difficult gliding challenge down to a lake inside one of Australia’s most beautiful National Parks.
While the mountains in this region do not come anywhere close to the French Alps or the Italian Dolomites (both regions we have flown events in before), this flight will still test your ability to stay on course and navigate/fly your aircraft into and out of some very tricky locales that will need your full attention to successfully undertake.
Wearing your Akubra and Drizabone are optional but if you do you will fit right in with the locals
- From time to time soundtracks are broadcast during and before the flight in the Discord radio Comms channel…by right clicking RYTHM (listed in the Comms-Radio section with all the other pilots’ names) you are able to turn the volume up or down to your liking *
When: Friday 27th August @ 2300 UTC (as usual!)
Where: Australia
Flight Duration: Approx 3hrs (depending on numbers attending)
Aircraft: Cessna Grand Caravan (as always as flight planned around Caravan performance)
Server: SOUTH EAST ASIA
Discord Server: https://discord.gg/rpsHtJXy74 (click on “#Gunpilot’s-Events”)
Voice Chat accessed by clicking on Comms Radio
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Cessna Caravan as all landing and other challenges built into flight are
tailored for this aircraft specifically
Turn Damage mode off as you will most likely suffer at least hard
landings if not full on crashes
Bring plenty of Duc Tape for running repairs
Crash Helmets are optional, Prayers are advisable
Embrace “SLEW” as it will be your friend by the end of the flight
Practicing to make Caravan landing approaches at IAS of between 40-50knts max will see you nailing difficult landings with ease and precision.
Make it easy on yourself to navigate around the route and accurately pinpoint the exact landing
areas by downloading and using the free “LittleNavMap” s/w you can get on the web - you will
never open the standard sim VFR Map again once you have tried this fantastic app that integrates
seamlessly with MSFS2020.
For improved performance of the Caravan, you may wish to add the ZC208B mod into your community folder. This mod can be located in Gunpilots Server …when in the server, click on the #general-postings channel and you will see a pin icon on the top RHS of the screen…click on this pin and it will present the mod to you to download.

If you are new to multiplayer/sim then this flight will really show you how to have fun with a bunch of other sim pilots while while trying to put your plane down in some interesting terrain in the bush. Crashes and other dramas always unfold during these flights and we all get to have some good belly laughs and interesting chinwagging chatter along the way.
See you on the grass runway @ 2300UTC this Friday
