Welcome to the 51st flight event in the Gunpilot’s Challenging Flights adventure series. This challenging flights event has all of us putting our bush landing skills to the test while again being “Urban Cowboys ”, flying our Caravans through the CITY OF LONDON, and is again guaranteed to give you more of the heart pounding and sweaty palms experience that you have come to expect from Gunpilot’s flight events.
To get a feel for our multiplayer events have a look at one of our very early event videos
Nepal Air Adventure Another Gunpilot's Challenging Strips flight - YouTube
Following on from our popular SAN FRAN CARAVAN flight last week around San Francisco Bay, we will again become Urban Cowboys for around 3 hours and don our Akubras and Stetsons to tackle what is arguably the most demanding and challenging flight in all the Gunpilot’s flights to date.
A big statement, and only by rolling onto the London Metropolitan Police Air Support airstrip (EGRP) will you be able to judge for yourself how difficult (and not forgetting to mention the fun) this flight proves to be.
This event has been titled LONDON DESTRUCTION and we will be hard pressed not to wipe ourselves off the map ( ) as we hit the main segment of the flight plan which is centred around all the tourist attractions and bridges along the mighty Thames River.
I normally recommend bringing plenty of duc tape along with you to our events but on this occasion it may be more prudent to ensure that your Last Will And Testament is up to date as this event does not take any prisoners (well, on one leg you may be taken prisoner)…
Its recommended that you:
** practice pinpoint accuracy in pulling out of loops**
** practice low flying**
** practice barrel rolls and flying inverted**
** have reverse thrust ready to utilise,**
** be confident on ultra slow approaches,**
** waterproof your aircraft**
** get ready to check your watches (???),**
** know how to fly through the “Eye of a storm”,**
** practice landing and taking off without hitting trees,**
** practice drinking tea with your little pinky suitably raised**
** know how to read a train timetable**
** know how to escape incarceration,**
and of course…
** know how to extract the longest distance in a glide with no engine.

RECOMMENDATIONS (on top of the above listed event specific recommendations):
Cessna Caravan as all landing and other challenges built into flight are
tailored for this aircraft specifically
Turn Damage mode off as you will most likely suffer at least hard
landings if not full on crashes
Bring plenty of Duc Tape for running repairs
Crash Helmets are optional, Prayers are advisable
Embrace “SLEW” as it will be your friend by the end of the flight
Practicing to make Caravan landing approaches at IAS of between 40-50knts max will see you nailing difficult landings with ease and precision.
Make it easy on yourself to navigate around the route and accurately pinpoint the exact landing areas by downloading and using the free “LittleNavMap” s/w you can get on the web - you will never open the standard sim VFR Map again once you have tried this fantastic app that integrates seamlessly with MSFS2020.
