I hear ya, my Q2 is being unused for a full week now… the G2 is just so stable and sharp in comparison. I got used to the small sweet spot already.
I have a G2 and a Q2. I use G2 for all seated games, and Q2 for room scale, or if I want to play in the bedroom (PC is in the living room).
I also have an Index, by the way, but nowadays it gets used less often than the other 2.
I noticed the small sweet spot right away the first time I put the G2 on – it was in the cliff house and some windows with lots of text were floating around. But it never bothered me in game.
Give it a try. If you are not happy you can return it.
I seriously doubt you could pull that off without needing a facebook account linked to create a new Oculus account to even get the drivers/firmware to install. I do however know how to rollback Oculus Firmware and block updates permanently via firewall.
I wouldn’t know as my Oculus account is 6 years old and we are waived of needing a facebook account linked for another year or two. As for SteamVR no idea I never installed or used it for my Rift S as it’s not needed for any VR games I play. Oculus Home handles everything for me between the headset and the vr game.
