What is the recommendation for both of these settings in VR?
I get major pauses with HAGS on.
The recommendation is to try both, including dx11 and dx12 in msfs2020, and see what works best for you.
For me, with msfs2020 (2024 still uninstalled for now) in VR (win11 QPro/rtx4090 with Link) HAGS disabled, game mode off, and DX12 gives me the best results. Also, nvidia 572.16, dlss4 enabled, with dlss/balanced. Like everything VR, your results may vary.
Thanks, appreciated
what framerate did you set in quest? And do you use an dlss preset?
@JOEDANCEN With both my Q3 and QPro/rtx4090 I set the meta link device graphics to 80Hz refresh rate with res slider full right. With the Oculus Debug Tool (ODT) I set asw mode to Forced 45fps, asw disabled. With 80Hz refresh rate this gives me a very nice smooth 40fps everywhere with msfs2020 (2024 still not reinstalled yet).
Also, with ODT I set pixel density (super sampling) to 1.30 and this further improves cockpit clarity with dlss/balanced.
Besides those changes all other ODT set to defaults/zeros except distortion = low, dynamic bitrates encoding = enabled, and dynamic bitrate max = 900mbps.
The beauty of this is that these ODT settings work well for both Link and Air Link. Leaving codec and sliced encoding at defaults will automatically select h.265 (hevc) with Air Link and h.264 with Link. Sliced encoding will automatically = off with Air Link and = on with link (5x slices). So, no need to select specific options in both those cases.
Also, I use the Oculus Tray Tool to set game profiles so I can finetune pixel density and asw modes. Still, can be done manually with ODT though, just not as convenient, for me anyway.
