This seems to have released today, I’m very interested is hearing how it reviews. The cockpit looks great, as I remember from having this module in XPlane. I hope work has been done to improve the exterior model. I’ve always really liked the Hampden, it would be great if we’ve got a solid rendition here.
Haven’t had a ton of time with it yet, but so far it feels nice for the $20! Some initial impressions:
The cockpit is all new and has excellent detail and texturing
Sound is the best yet for Virtavia. Full Wwise, and sounds good across the range from idle to full power (much, much better there than the Tigercat, which sounds wrong at flight idle.)
Not only different liveries, but lots of other details as well such as wing slats, antennae, and armament vary depending on the model/country being flown.
Flight model feels good and right. Ground handling is appropriate for a medium-sized taildragger, and the plane’s acceleration, roll rate, etc. feel authentic for a plane of its class/power. I haven’t done extensive flight testing yet, but so far, no weirdness and it feels convincing.
Fully agree with everything @Editer wrote. I can only compare it to the Tigercat and the Hampden is better in every way!
Here is a short flight I just did with it over Old Warden from startup to shutdown + from a “spectator” viewpoint. Hopefully you can tell that it’s fun to fly =)
As mentioned not purchased the aircraft yet so view is based on seen visuals and sounds from 3rd party videos.
Flight model is always a subjective thing. I’m not a pilot, are you? I haven’t flown the real thing, have you?
I do believe Deimos has come a long way in the visuals and I’d say comparing both of their latest releases, Deimos comes out on top visually…but that is also subjective.
I do own aircraft from both these developers, not these latest ones. So be clear this is not a preference of one dev over another.
Strongly considering this one at this point. I’m seeing pictures of the X-Plane version and the older FSX-version with a livery featuring a yellow underside. Is that included in this MSFS version?
It looks like realistically, there aren’t a lot of liveries that Virtavia didn’t already cover themselves with this release, plus Jan’s forthcoming civilian Swede, but maybe we’ll see some fictional ones?
The screenshots on fs.to are still showing the teal, Jan Kees. Just downloading now so haven’t flown it yet, but I assume the actual paint is fixed and it’s just the screens.
Your paints are beautiful, and doing them so accurately while being colorblind is like playing the game on “hard mode!”
