Has anyone tried smart access memory

In my case, it looks like I am short of 4-5 fps. RX5700XT and Ryzen 5600X.
Any thoughts?
Not so surprised I must say…

This was tested on Hardware Unboxed … same result. Does not seem to help MSFS much. In my case I don’t notice a loss or gain in frames.

I was wondering the same thing recently. I actually saw the hardware unboxed result just yesterday while thinking about it.

So I just did a quick test. Note that I fly in VR. Here’s my results which show that “SAM On” was the clear winner. So maybe in 2D it doesn’t help but it does in VR. It was only 1 quick test in 1 location so it’s not scientific, but I think I can conclude that SAM doesn’t hurt my framerates and it probably helps.

Last I saw, the Nvidia equivalent “Resizable Bar” is disabled for MSFS. I’m assuming this is because performance is worse enabled than disabled, or there was another type of issue.

Your comment helped actually. I enabled the resizable bar and the fps went back to normal. But the net result was… no improvement with this feature anyway

Agreed. With my example, I can’t tell a difference between 42 and 44 fps.

It’s not a game feature. You enable it on your motherboard if it supports it and then it just works for everything.

You misunderstand my point. Nvidia disables Resizable Bar for certain games for a variety of reasons - MSFS is one of those disabled games. Even if enabled on your motherboard, the current Nvidia profile will ignore that for MSFS.

Wow. I didn’t know that. I have an AMD card and that’s not the case.

I know that early on in the implementation, Nvidia warned some games would suffer a performance drop with Resizable Bar enabled. Clearly they didn’t want lower performance with it enabled, so they decided to only enable it for select games. I haven’t seen anything since Resizable Bar was rolled out in March, so maybe the situation has changed?
