Hazy atmosphere at night?

Hey everyone,

What’s up with the hazy atmosphere at night ?

I tried with clear skies and made sure there are zero clouds around, and I still have this hazy effect. I can understand in the very long distance maybe, but the strobes also behave as if going through thin fog.

Here’s a slightly overexposed (from HDR but it helps) screenshot:

Note the strobes, the hazy atmosphere in the distance, plus whatever bubble thing they use that can be seen on the right side of the wing for ground water reflections (panning further, the reflection is no longer visible)

FS2020 had this correctly done (in my pleb view and based on flights i’ve been in) where the strobes would act like this only through actual clouds.

Fog does seem to be unusually common.
I haven’t paid much attention to weather yet but where I live, fog in real life is rare. Not so rare in the sim so far.

Please refer to all the posts from people saying the stars look too perfect at night. They demanded the light pollution that exists at night.

This was the same in the alpha, where the stars were indeed to visible, i dont think is related.

I’m not saying you’re wrong, but what makes you think it’s not related? That’s just as interesting a thing to say as what I said. Neither of us have evidence of what we’re saying…

(Also, I disagree the stars were too visible  )

The fact that the grey filter was there in the alpha too, with the stars being too bright makes me think its not related. If you go in the weather tab and incrementally go forward or backwards to a dark setting, you will see that the filter just appears suddenly when the sim decides its dark enough or something. Purely speculation as you say though…

I’ve done multiple extra flights. It’s always “foggy”, even with clear skies and in remote areas with no light pollution.

I think this is present during the day too, and I’m guessing it’s something to make the atmosphere more realistic. But at night, it’s clear that there’s a layer of “something”, making all lights reflect into this “fog”.
