In case anyone here has not seen it, Asobo have posted that there are known issues with recent nVidia drivers, which may cause CTDs and stutters. See link to their post below. I have rolled mine back to 531.29.
Thanks for sharing this, as I’m seeing more stuttering as of late (Ryzen9 7950x and FE 4090). Here’s hoping it gets resolved quickly. The sim is getting so very close to excellent, and let’s hope this is just a minor, short-term setback.
I rolled back to 531.29 and only then I could launch the sim to the home screen. However after closing it and re launching, all the subsequent attempts fail. This on a clean Windows 11 with nothing but Steam and MSFS installed. So we wait…
Also having problems with 531.29. It gives most stable fps and smooth gameplay (especially with game mode ON), BUT - still menues are not loaded correctly; there are missing text, and graphic objects.
I know we are told not to use gamemode, but since a cpl of weeks back Ive tried it again (after having worse performance with it turned on earlier). But now its working great, and its giving me better recording performance in both obs and shadow play. Intereting!
Why MS/Asobo and the drivers devs at ASUS cant get things to work out better than at the moment is question I cant understand. Seems like theres not communications whatsover.
These things happen from time to time with software develpment, nothing to do with communication.
No need to worry , I’m sure it will be sorted out in due course.
For me, I always download driver updates manually from the nVidia website, and so have older drivers stored in my downloads folder (unless I have cleaned up and deleted them to save disk space). I can just select one of those saved ones and install it, which will delete the newer driver and re-install the older one. Or you can select an older driver manually from the nVidia website, download it, and install it that way.
I don’t use nVidia GeForce Experience, but you can probably use that do do the same thing.
Download the driver from the official website
Go through the steps to install, when you get the option to choose ‘Express’ or ‘Custom’,
Choose ‘Custom’ then choose ‘Clean Install’.
I ignored rolling back drivers until yesterday when I went for a VR session because I did not have any problem in 2d but noticed I didnt have quite a pleasing experience in VR so I decided to go back to 531.29 and the problems were gone. I could even crank up the render scale from 100 to 120… idk
I tried going back to 531.29 a few days ago and got a prompt telling me I don’t have any compatible hardware for it. I have RTX 4070. I used DDU to completely remove everything and tried again. Same issue.
I have 531.29-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql.exe, which I think is correct.
Thats because your 4070 is more recent than the driver hence no support for 4070 in 531.29. The driver simply doesnt know your card. I have a 4070ti so luckily I could roll back the driver
I believe the issue is more DX12 than the driver versions. and 4070 owners can’t revert back that far so you need to try DX11 first. then see if rolling back to 531.29 make any difference.
I’ve had terrible stuttering since installing a 4070 card. Can’t revert to older driver as not compatible with the 4070 card.
However, I have found that disabling HAGS has alleviated the stuttering problem. Hope there’s a fix for this driver incompatibility soon, as I can’t use FG on my 4070 without HAGS enabled.
I wish I’d known the 4070 card isn’t compatible with MSFS before I bought it.
Are these issues confined to this AAU2 beta business? I just ask cos I have seen heaps of problems surrounding it and I don’t understand why everyone doesn’t just wait until the Beta isn’t a Beta any more! I haven’t seen this driver msg coming up so I assume it is Beta related.
