im not saying strobing individual blades is great. what im saying is there should be some sort of shadow, like in real life the see-through disc would be preferable over what we currently have, but even what we currently have, only 2 helicopters have…
its kinda immersion breaking to see my helicopter shadow on the ground or buildings, when I fly by, with zero rotor representation, like if its not even there…
so there must be a better solution to represent this, my best idea is see-through blur disc like the guy you linked said.
This certainly is how the rotor shadow should appear.
I find it strange that Asobo sort of got the rotors themselves correct (a disc with a bit of flickering). but for FS2024 they decided to invent the ridiculous sharp blade shadows (and corresponding massive flickers). It is not like this in FS2020, nor can I remember it in any other flight simulator. It must have taken more coding to accomplish, and it uses more computer resources when flying, all this for an effect that is not realistic IRL, and results in the (extremely annoying) massive flickering when the sun is at the wrong angle. Someone somewhere in Asobo made an ill-informed decision, and is now unwilling to admit it.
