Description of the issue:
Helicopter SAR still puts the ‘hiker’ in an unreachable location.

There is a hard to do workaround, you can try to land atop of a tree close by to trigger the boarding. But you have to give takeoff power as soon as the chat message for boarding starts to get back in the air during the cutscene. After that you’ll be able to finish the mission.
Another way is to find a landing spot within 0.5 miles, exit the aircraft and walk to pickup point, but that’s not always possible.

Helicopter SAR missions want you to land in unsuitable locations

ISSUE DESCRIPTION Description of the issue: Helicopter SAR missions sometimes end up with the user finding themselves having to land their helicopter within a dense forest, very steep terrain, too close to water, or other unusable surfaces. With no other option but to land near the target in order to complete the mission, it always results in many of the helicopter SAR missions, particularly the ones in the European mountains, very difficult or outright impossible to pass. • I knew about the issue but thought I would have better luck. I completed the cradle mission without issue, but then one the very first employee Search and Rescue mission out of Truckee, CA, I ended up finding the missing person and there was nowhere to land. Tall trees everywhere with no clearings. There was a small pond close by but the trees were up to the shoreline. I tried landing in the shallow water 3 times, but it made my bird very unstable and I ended up getting an equipment malfunction for “landing gear.” Since the bird wasn’t stable on solid ground, it didn’t register as a landing and didn’t complete the mission. I tried landing in a clearing about 0.5nm away and walking, but I got about 0.2nm away from my aircraft and I got a warning about abandoning my aircraft so I had to turn around. Tried the pond one more time but ended up “crashing” and the mission ended.

Target is just above the aircraft towards the pond. Not even sure I could’ve completed this mission with a hoist because ole boy was camped out underneath a 100’ tall tree.

Hey, I don’t want to get too excited, I just completed a SAR pick up mission in NZ. The target was not under trees and I could land a sensible distance away and the ATC did no crash and die either. … Could they be finally fixing this?

I just completed a flight, and the person was actually in a wide open clearing as well, near Durango, Colorado. Might be luck more than anything, but I’ll try again a little later

The NZ ones are normally safe was how I got through to the sar winch part just did the NZ and Australian sars avoided the rest of the world for the landing issues

What I found was the landings slot of the time are extreme

Well now I can’t fly any SAR or sling load cargo missions anymore. Anytime I try to start a mission I’m getting the bouncy helicopter. Haven’t had it happen before but now I get it every single time, employee or freelance.

In SU2 Beta, you no longer need to land right next to the person you’re trying to rescue.

You can land where you think is safe and can walk to them to get them in your helicopter/airplane. The “Abandoning” your aircraft is gone so if you want to walk 5 miles to get them? You can! It’ll teleport them to your helicopter/plane. Just use the walk around feature when on the ground and hike to them! After you pick them up you can walk back or teleport back into your aircraft.

To Exit and Return to your aircraft:
