Help desperately needed on an install

Hi, i have recently purchased a PC (high enough spec) for Microsoft Flight Sim 2020 but cannot get passed the 1.99Gb Installer to download the game. I have tried through Steam and now the Store.

I press install then Play, it starts (great) but about 15 seconds later the screen just goes back to the press play again.
After retrying it gives me an option about 10 seconds in to start in safe mode but that work.

I have disabled Norton, Nvidea, Icue, firestorm
I have a clean Windows 11 install and all the Xbox apps are up to date.

I must be missing something but im at my witts end and frustrated.

Moved to Tech Talk which is more appropriate :+1:

Can you check you have the US language pack installed for speech by going to Windows Settings > Time & Language > Speech > Manage Voices, and check that “English (United States)” is installed, along with any other languages you already have. Then restart your PC

Hi sorry for the double post, I selected it and rebooted, No that didnt change anything.

Try checking the windows event viewer logs. Press windows start button on the task bar, type “event viewer” and open that, then go to Windows Logs > Application and look for rows listing errors with MSFS. If you see any red errors that relate to MSFS, click on it once to open the details and check the ‘faulting module name’ and ‘error code’. It may give us a clue as to what is causing the issue

I get a red exclamation mark with this:-
Faulting application name: FlightSimulator.exe, version: 1.33.8.0, time stamp: 0x00000000
Faulting module name: ucrtbase.dll, version: 10.0.22621.608, time stamp: 0xf5fc15a3
Exception code: 0xc0000409
Fault offset: 0x000000000007f61e
Faulting process ID: 0x0x4C10
Faulting application start time: 0x0x1D9A776D24325DC
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.33.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe\FlightSimulator.exe
Faulting module path: C:\windows\System32\ucrtbase.dll
Report ID: e8a9b000-955f-4e58-9a06-8d32d0442c20
Faulting package full name: Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.33.8.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
Faulting package-relative application ID: App

0xc0000409 normally means the US Language Pack isn’t installed. I’d suggest removing it and re-following my instructions above. May be worth putting a cropped screenshot in here once you’ve done so we can check it’s installed correctly

Did you update Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable?

Interesting, everything is greyed out,

No i dont think i did, how is that done?

Would that explain the speech, i do have both English and US displaying now, saying Installed voice packages but both have 0mb next to them!
I have selected a voice (US) and previewed it.
It has gone further now and downloading 123.3GB of Flight Sim YAY!!!
Fingers crossed this time
