Help understanding how sensitivity settings are dealt with

I want to adjust the sensitivity of my joystick for helicopters but I don’t understand if the settings are going to affect my planes.

Are the hardware settings of my joystick linked to the General settings, to the Helicopters settings, or the specific helicopter settings? There is no way of telling it.

Thank you

The way I’ve done it is to duplicate the profile for “specific controls”, name it whatever you like. Then from what I’ve experienced, I can edit sensitivities without it affecting other profiles.

This is all theory and testing btw, but it seems to work for me at least.

I believe any edits you do to the joystick where it shows the device on the right of the screen will affect everywhere you use that joystick. If you want to just edit for some uses then you should edit against the control axis assignment. So when you assign an axis to lateral cyclic for example click on the gear wheel to the right of the assignment and edit the sensitivity curve there.

Hope that makes sense.

Thank you, but both suggestions appear to be wrong.

  1. they don’t seem to be belonging to the “specific controls” as no new profile is added when edited.

  2. the settings seem to be the same across all aircraft and helicopters, which if true is a step down from 2020, where I at least could edit them assigning them to a profile.

They definitely do not belong to the single option. They are assigned to specific hardware axis, not their software assignment.

I probably didn’t describe it too clearly but I have different sensitivity curves for each helicopter. They get assigned in the Aircraft section. Specific has very few uses.

Go into controls and select Search by input.
Move your stick sideways
It should find the cyclic lateral axis assigned.
After Cyclic Lateral Axis it has Helicopters. This shows that it’s assigned to Helicopter Controls.
Then it say Axis followed by which controller axis is assigned. Mine is Axis 4
Look at the end of the line and you’ll see a gear wheel icon. Click it.
Now select “Tweak action curve”
This is where you edit the curve specific to the profile name in the Helicopter Controls section and is different for each profile.

Hope that’s clearer.

In the Helicopter Controls section I’ve created many profiles like 407 and H125. Most of the controls are identical but I wanted different sensitivities for each helicopter so I created one eg 407 and then duplicated this. Gave it the name H125 and edited to suit. Remembering to click default for the appropriate profile for each a/c so that it’s automatically applied when I fly that one.

As a community, we need to start posting peripherals and the respective sensitivities that we’ve customised, so there’s at least a baseline to work from.

I’m not using peripheral sensitivities per se. These are a/c specific sensitivities that tend to be personal choice.

The exception I’ve seen posted is throttle curves to get beta and reversers working or prop to enable feather on the same axis.
