I tried VR out today with my old Oculus Rift and I was stunned how much easier flying could be.
However, I felt like I was in severe need of reading glasses. I had difficulty seeing most all menus and most instruments. Even with the mouse instrument lock the G1000 NXi screen and buttons are very difficult.
I’m in kind of a in a dilemma now as I don’t want to give up being able to read menus but landing and taxing are just so much easier it’s not funny.
I also miss the overlay gauges. Something like that could help to avoid all the squinting and zooming around.
Is it better to stick to older aircraft for instrument visibility?
Would the Oculus Quest 2 offer a better experience? I’d just hate to give FB money.
Well, turns out the problem is me! If I pull the headset a couple inches from my face it becomes much more clear. So I need a spacer or reading glasses.
The old Rift quality isn’t too bad. I may try a Quest 2 since they are easy to pick up. That supposedly comes with a spacer.
I did a bump in menu size and minimum font size, which does help in VR.
Thanks, I should be fine then. I have a Quest 2 now and I don’t have that issue any longer. With the Rift, it got clearer the further away I pulled it. But the Quest 2 seems like it’s almost optional.
