Flight plan is setup, I’m following on Autopilot NAV set to GPS, I’ve put in the correct ILS freq. in NAV Radio. I descend on Autopilot to around 2000 ft then with the runway in sight I hit the Approach button… I see the Glide Slope come on, and it switches to LOC1 on the dial… this used to work for me, but now does not? New bug? Or am I missing a step?
I’ not sure if the approach mode works while still in GPS mode.
The approach modei works only with NAV1, which means you should push it once the Nav source has switched from GPS to LOC1.
It can also happen that it doesn’t switch automatically and you need to do that manually
(10-15NM from the runway)
Thanks guys. It’s not airport specific (ie. all airports do not work)
I just tried KVNY to KLAX landing at 6L ILS freq. 108.50, switched to LOC1 manually at 2200 ft, then hit APR, but no luck.
I see the diamond on the GS indicator is descending, but the plane never descends to the runway.
Weird. This used to work fine before SU5, so possibly it’s a bug for me.
Do you maybe have the Honeycomb throttle? And is your throttle AP still on the VS switch? It might force it on VS mode and then it isn’t capable of switching to APR mode.
Your descent should start at 7.5nm at 2500ft
You are already closer than that, so you are potentially outside of the GS beam. Try again, and fly at 2500ft steady. When you are at about 8nm out, click the APR button. Let us know how that goes.
