HElp With Toc and Tod being active in Flight plan

Is there a setting that needs to be checked so that the aircraft reacts to the TOC and TOD segments of a flight pan. When the aircraft reaches the Set altitude it levels off as expected. It is the TOC that does not work as it does in ms2020. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Um, no. One consideration when flight planning is to make sure that there is enough distance for the climb such that the TOC occurs before TOD. When they overlap, TOD before TOC, the VNAV function is likely to fail. Other than that, please specify aircraft model and sim platform so that others may be able to assist you.

Just to be clear, your first sentence describes ToC working correctly. Is it ToC or ToD that’s not working for you?

Thanks. It is The TOD that is not working as should. Apologies~

What aircraft? For most GA planes, a VNAV profile and ALT SEL with a lower altitude fix will invoke an automated descent. I don’t fly airliners so I can’t really comment there.

I fly mostly airliners–787, 747! It may have been a glitch as i did a flight today and the TOD shows on the instruments, but i have to throttle down with controller in order for the descent to happen. In 2020, at the point of the TOD, the aircraft would automatically throttle down and descend as should. May be a bug in that area. I will keep trying! Thanks everyone!

Hey, flew the 787-10 in 24 yesterday and the Dreamliner commanded descent at ToD as per the FMC and MCP altitude setting. While I had to monitor the descent profile, as always, and apply speedbrakes due to a very high tailwind component, there was no ToD defect in the 787-10. Good luck figuring out your situation, cheers!
