FLIGHT DETAILS

The national park service has asked for air support for a medical evacuation from the summit of Mount Denali. The climber is at the 19000 foot level is suffering from Hypoxia and needs the medic at base camp at 14000 ft. Departure will be from Talkeetna ( PATK) Alaska, with final destination being Kanishna (5Z5). Due to weight considerations, it is suggested that your aircraft be utilized with fuel requirements minimum. The park service will have a gas stash on the other side of the mountain range where we will transfer the patient to a waiting air national guard H-60 pavehawk while getting fuel before heading to Kanishna (5Z5). Route of Flight from Talkeetna will take us over the Susitna River Valley, up the Ruth Glacier, past Mount Church, past the moose’s tooth peaks and into the Ruth Glacier Amphitheater before the climb really begins. Base camp reports landing surface is rough with loose snow and the medivac landing site ie reported slippery.

One additional note of caution, the runway at Kantishna is elevated and will require aircraft carrier landing skills.

Hope to see you on the “Great One” Denali.
