High Gloss in the Deep South

I was thrilled to see a kiwi repaint included Aeroplane Heaven’s Lockheed Electra release.

Today I took ZK-AFD of Union Airways on a regional hop, from Invercargill (NZNV) at the far south end of New Zealand’s South Island, along the Catlins Coast, up to Taeiri (NZTI)- a grass airfield that served as the city of Dunedin’s primary airfield until the 1960’s.

Real world weather was pretty gloomy today, with showers of rain and the surface wind blowing 35 knots at both takeoff and landing. Luckily I managed to time my arrival with a break in the clouds and bright sunlight upon touchdown at Taeiri.
