Historic Airport: Zahn's (AZY) in Amityville, NY

Zahn’s was once the most popular GA airport in the US with a rich aviation history. Would love to see this in the sim, ideally with period planes on the ground.

Thank you for the info about Zahns. There are a large number of abandoned and paved over airports in the US. Many were privately owned and sold to developers.

Even though MSFS has historic aircraft, historic airfield recreation is left for 3rd-party developers. Take a look at the Meigs Field add-on which is one of the best developed historical airports for MSFS. It is a popular add-on because Meigs Field was the starting point for earlier MS flight sims.

From the Wikipedia article about Zahns, it appears there is (or was) a project to recreate Zahns for X-plane. Maybe you could contact those developers to inquire about porting to MSFS.

It won’t be featured in the base game as it no longer exists in real life.

However there are many third party scenery developers out there, not to mention the many freeware airports made by fans of MSFS and listed on https://flightsim.to/ so maybe someone will create it?

On https://flightsim.to/ there is even an option to request scenery to made by other people! You could try submitting a request.

I thought so, too, until they announced Meigs Field for the 40th Anniversary Edition.

I’m all for period and historical airports if they give us a way to easily turn them on and off.

Which would go hand in hand with all the historic Local Legends aircraft.

I would like to see this as well along with an updated and old Fairchild (KFRG) Republic airport. Heck Long Island in General needs some mapping update love. Long Island has deep roots in Aviation History.
