Hmm Maybe I'm getting less fussy with old age

This actually looks fine for me :man_facepalming:
Not sure I’m seeing any difference from SU4 - but my memory is not great

I am getting some screen tear now when panning in the cockpit across top of screen; never had that before.

I am not getting anything as good as that.
Are you running everything on Ultra on a high spec PC ?

Similar to me. My pc is 4 years old and nothing special these days. Only my first flight looked bad because bing maps was off. but updating my settings fixed it easily.

Yep, tearing here too on fast pans in the cockpit.

Was so bad I’ve had to turn Vertical Sync to Fast back on in the NVidia Control Panel.

I think I have a mid-PC.

Not everything ULTRA

I noticed Bing Maps was off after SU5. When I turned it on, I thought the quality was much better.

Oh, my tearing was the livery I was using. Not an issue when I removed it.

Most people complaining about LOD refer to Photogrammetry areas which took a hit with the update.
Also panning the camera quickly shows the loading of the LOD.

In your scenario is basically the best case to not see the issue, since trees and mountains basically are not affected by the problems other faced. Also the low altitude doesn’t show the ground texture resolution issues reported.

Just saying that the kind of issues you see (or don’t) also depend on your way of flying. And you’re lucky not to be affected

I myself have a similar usage scenario and I like the performance gains far more than I dislike the small degradation of visuals (flying on ultra before and after the update). But I agree to the constructive criticism that the sim needs to improve for the others to enjoy it again.

What I dislike is that anger and hatred from so many threads since it is just like having a stage where everyone can get up to and scream to the masses. Nothing good ever came from such actions. Reporting issues, analyzing situations, providing screenshots. That’s the best way to get things improved.
But those people will settle down once the first anger is calmed and we’ll hopefully get a more civilized discussion forum back.

Mostly I care about airplane cockpits, system depth, realism of the planes, realistic engine flight dynamics and stuff like that. That´s why I was never participating on all these hate and flame wars because I have never noticed any significant difference in the scenery graphics.
A year ago I have still flown the FSX so I do not care that much about scenery or 8k ground-textures and stuff, but the focus was on DLC planes only and realism and REX cloud textures and weather and physics.

But what I noticed and what really worries me is a slow degredation of clouds and cloud self-shadowing and overall cloud quality (which is going on for months now. I think the first significant downgrading of cloud graphics and cloud self-shadowing and cloud shading quality already happened in December last year, and still continues)

I really wish these super-awesome clouds from the early days back.

These clouds looked absolutely awesome, here is an early video of the first new Flight Sim days:

These clouds and storms were beyond awesome!
I have never before seen such impressive skies and graphics quality.
Super high photorealistic quality with various degrees of transparency and self-shadowing and 100% photorealistic white and grey tones, the clouds had lot´s of self-shadowing shades and a geometry - a form a shape, you know what I mean, it looked like REAL clouds from a movie and not Zelda Breath of the Wild style cell-shader, like cartoonish pure-white object in the sky. (Hard to describe but you know what I mean.)
Mow the clouds almost looking like rendered with cell-shading and overblooming and “cartoony”, lacking details in geometry and 3D-contour with low to none self-shadowing on the clouds, no details on the cloud itself but mostly just a bunch of pure white shapes hoovering in the sky with no details.
In the early Flight Sim days the skies where 100% photorealism and the most sophisticated graphics ever made.

So my only wish would be bringing back these absolute AWESOME self-shadowing detailed alpha clouds to the PC version ultra settings
The PC ultra settings deserve these most beautyful and photorealistic clouds ever programmed in any game and sim.

And cirrus clouds would be awesome, the Flight Sim absolutely needs Cirrus and Altocumulus cloud types.

typical “good-weather” cirrus

The typical clouds very often seen in the early morning or evening:

These types of cloud towering out of an almost half-transparent fog are awesome too, especially often when rain or thunderstorms are coming, would look awesome:

Better clouds, half-transparent fog situations (humid days and heat-haze) and more weather systems and the missing cloud types like cirrus - and I am absolutely happy with this Flight Sim like I always was

hi, it’s true that there is a small loss of quality, there is a mouse (right click) bug that freezes the controls, but this morning I did a 1h45 flight from LFPO to LFMN, what a joy to be able to play in 4k ultra at 50 FPS.
I know that many have a lot of CTD, I had some because I had reactivated the hypertrending, but without, strictly no CTD. No big deal, but they do… I’m very happy with this update.

Sorry for sounding a bit ignorant but where do you turn on Bing maps?

General Options - Data
You should see the difference if it is off, default should be on.

What is this? Clouds at 36K ft…

Meanwhile I’m at 37,100 ft to maintain 36,000 ft according to ATC. It won’t give me the barometric pressure anymore and the ‘B’ key keeps it at the wrong value I guess.

Actually according to lnm I’m at 38,900ft actual, 37,100ft indicated, yet ATC believes I’m at 36,000ft.
But at least the air temperature seems right (-48c/-20c)
