I dont know what i did. It was a simple flight planned from Rijeka to Salzburg made in the EFB. NO different than any other flight ive made in there. I got step climbs from 5200 to 6200, 7500, to 8800, then 11,000. Ive never had step climbs. Not complaining, just hard to know whats new, whats on my drive or whats streamed. Anyone else get step climbs? Its my first since launch.
Hi @CasualOne7471 ,
Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to a sub-category of the User Support Hub
The General Discussion category is meant for discussions that fall outside of our other sub-categories.
If you would like other users to help you with an issue you are experiencing in the sim, consider these User Support Hub categories for your future post:
User Support Hub > Aircraft & Systems
User Support Hub > ATC, Traffic & NAVAIDs
User Support Hub > Crashes (CTDs)
User Support Hub > Hardware & Peripherals
User Support Hub > Install, Performance & Graphics
User Support Hub > Scenery & Airports
User Support Hub > User Interface & Activities
User Support Hub > Virtual Reality (VR)
User Support Hub > Weather & Live Weather
User Support Hub > Miscellaneous
Haven’t tried enough in 2024, but 2020 had also that. Anyway they aren’t step climbs. I assume they pretend to be or they’re just something to keep you busy so you don’t just take off, AP and land, but they aren’t really.
Rijeka to Salzburg is a very short flight, while step climbs are almost always performed on long haul flights (as the airplane gets lighter in can cruise higher).
Its not user support. its just discussion. No issues here
Since there is no sub-category for ATC in the Discussion Hub > General Discussion, the User Support Hub > ATC, Traffic & NAVAIDs is the best place for your question, discussion can also happens there .
FS2020 has step climbs in ATC scripting.
FS2024 does not.
I filed a ticket at Zendesk 10 days ago. Recommend you all do the same.
Why file a ticket when it works?
Your post is tagged 2024. The ATC does not instruct step climbs in the new sim. It simply clears you directly to cruise altitude. I’ve flown 15 successful (relatively) IFR hops and none of them invoked step climbs.
I submitted a ticket request for this as well. I am hoping they can address this sooner rather than later but I guess we’ll have to see
