Honeycomb Bravo hex-head screw dimensions?

I recently received a new (May 2022) Bravo unit after RMAing my old one for a faulty switch. (Just FYI, they have a 2-year warranty, not 1 like a lot of places.) Finally had time to get it mounted back up to my desk, and I set about removing the hex-head (2.5mm) screws from the top so I could mount my Logitech radio panel, and then my Logitech multi-panel on top of that. (That’s how I had them set on my old Bravo.)

When I took the screws out this time I noticed they were all the same length. I swear the old ones were different lengths? I’ve emailed Honeycomb to ask, but that was just a bit ago, and itʻs midnight local time in San Diego  So - got the Logitech panel chassis on there, and tried to start securing it to the Bravo, only to find that the Honeycomb screws are too short.

The black screw is the Honeycomb one, and the longer one with the knurled head is the one that Logitech uses. I thought maybe I could substitute the Logitech one until I could find some proper length hex-head ones, but even tightened down all the way, the Logitech screws are just too long, and the panel chassis rocks back and forth. That is not gonna work. :\

Does anyone know what dimension screw I need to look for? I donʻt have a way to measure them right now, but I think maybe 3/4" would work? It looks like the current ones are about 1/2" long.

Optimally, Iʻd love to find some of the Logitech ones with the knurled knob so that I donʻt need to fight the hex-head. Iʻd get a bag of ʻem so I was prepared for the eventuality of me adding more flight sim hardware to the mix.

Do you possibly have washers that you could use to rectify the rocking back and forth?

You could also cut a millimeter or two off the end of it, given you have the tools to do it. Angle cutter? Grinding Wheel? Hacksaw with metal cutting blade and a good vise?

Looks like 4mm screws. Perhaps there are spare screws with the Logitech? Any way that an additional washer from a Logitech screw would be enough to secure tightly?

Good luck!

These are millimeter screws. You need 3mm x 12mm.

That’s a possibility. I do like the knurled knobs on the end of the Logitech screw thingies. Less fighting with tools.

I’ve got a Dremel with a cutting wheel, but no vise. LOL that just …yeah, knowing me, that’s gonna be too dangerous without a vise.

Sorry - I’m a Yank, so my brain defaults to “Freedom Units” by default. :us: (sigh I wish we would just switch to the metric system!!!)

I will see if I can get any 3x12mm stuff here locally.

So I did a little rough measuring. I have a friend who worked in manufacturing, and he helped me learn about the wonders of Mcmasters.com

This is the hex-head M3 screw I pulled out of the Honeycomb Bravo. Measured up against a metric ruler that was on the side of a notebook!

Here’s the Logitech fastener.

When all screwed down through the chassis into the Bravo, this is the gap that remains. If it wasn’t as wobbly as it ended up being it would work…but there’s a good handful of degrees movement forward and backward when viewed from the side. Unfortunately, I lack both the tiny washers required and the extra Logitech fasteners to make that work. I do much prefer the textured top of these to the hex-head of the Honeycomb screws though.

I contacted Honeycomb and asked if anything had changed because I had this exact same setup on my “old” Bravo and it worked just fine. In my mind, I remember the screws being longer. I was told that nothing on the exterior has changed, so the screws would be the same.

I was chatting with a friend, and they have an early production Bravo. This is what their screw looks like:

I know I’m crazy, but I didn’t think I was missing something. It looks like those earlier-in-production screws are longer.

So… I’ve got an email into Logitech that they’re going to forward to the Saitek support team. If they don’t have anything they can advise / sell me, I’m going to take my search online. McMaster has like 600 options for just M3 screws alone, but I couldn’t find anything that was “toolless” like the Logitech fasteners. I would much prefer that to have to go with a hex head, but …ok, so I already ordered a ratchet for the 1/4" bits like my computer screwdriver uses.

Why not take your problem to Home Depot or Lowes? They probably have something. Maybe a couple of lock-washers that will secure your Logitech thumbscrews.

I remembered the phrase, “Look with your eyes, not with your mouth.”

I ended up finding a couple of washers that were just what I needed. Then another friend reminded me of Aliexpress, so I popped over there and ordered a bunch of M3x16 bolts with a knurled top like the Logitech ones. That way I won’t need to fight with the hex head screws…although I may have bought a chrome ratchet that accepts the 1/4" bits that my fancypants computer screwdriver system uses

The eagle-eyed will spot the missing screws lol. Yes, it bothers me. I have to wait until the middle of August for my stuff to arrive from China.

The handles are for the BN-2 Islander from @iDigStuff - he has an Etsy store of the same name! EXCELLENT stuff. I’ve bought a ton of his levers.

The bolts are M4, not M3. Guess who has a bag of knurled-head M3 bolts now?

Thanks. Just what I was looking for.

Make that two of us. I bought M3s a few weeks ago only to find that I should have bought M4s.
