I’m flying the Cessna 172 G1000 and the Caranedo Cessna 182. The quadrant was working, but in these two planes, The altitude and the Vertical Speed don’t work when I turn the dial on the quadrant. I have to click on, and use the knobs on the screen to set altitude and vertical speed. Any ideas why of if others are having this problem? Thanks Walt
There are / were a few AP bugs with the Bravo.
Check out RMAG’s video (not sure if this is what you are reffering to).
If you’re using the default config, you really should watch this short video:
EDIT: LOL, I was beaten to it!
I will try this and keep my fingers crossed. And thank you both for the quick response. I don’t think that’s causing my problem though. If I dial an altitude in with the quadrant using the dial, It should show that altitude above the altitude tape window on the PFD. But nothing and again, if I dial a VS in with the quadrant dial, is should show on the PFD to the right of the altitude tape as I dial it in. But the bug does not move. Again thank you and will see if we can figure this out. I have to try the CJ4 or the Longitude again, because I do believe it works on these two planes, just not the Cessna’s. I’ll try and stay with you on this one. Thanks Walt and Happy Flying.
It may not be exactly the issue you are seeing, but you’ll want to apply the fix regardless. Esentially what this does is as soon as you turn the left dial to VS, it turns on AP and puts it into VS mode. So you may not even be ready for AP to be on soon as you hit VS on the dial, its on and engaged into VS mode. So good to fix it.
As for the 172, I can confirm it works (as displayed). Set the left knob to ALT and use the right to dial it in. Then push the VS button and turn the right knob to turn it up or down. Pushing the button doesn’t turn on AP, it selects that mode. Then hit the AP button to turn it on when ready.
Could you show us what you have configured for buttons 9, 10, 16 and 17?
9 and 10 are triggered by rotating the rightmost knob, and 16 and 17 are the VS and ALT positions on the mode selector.
I don’t think its a configuration issue.
Need to enusre VS is “lit up” then have the left dial on VS and turn the right to adjust.
Think I have it figured out. Has to do with one of the profiles I set for the Throttle Quadrant. When I went to default, everything works. So it has to do with one of the profiles I created for the single engine and single engine complex that I created. Now I just have to figure the correct settings for those profiles. Once again I want to thank everyone for your help. It is greatly appreciated. Happy flying, Walt
Good stuff,
But you also need to fix for the VS bug, it’s a bug across the board. Soon as you turn that left dial to, or past VS. It turns on AP in VS mode or changes AP to VS mode.
Do anyones honeycomb throttle levers tension wear out or some levers are loser than others?
No issues with mine.
There is a tension adjustment on the far right that you can turn to tighten it up.
I am aware but when I turn the knob the effect of the knob wares out the further to the left you go. Is this a normal thing or is it generally faulty?
Yeah, I’ve had mine for a couple years I think and the levers on the left are a bit looser. Not bad though.
I did have to do open heart surgery on it though to fix the broken wires that connect to the contacts on the ends of the lever stumps. My Boeing throttles wouldn’t activate reverse thrust or the TO/GA button. Most of the wires were broken so I replaced them all with more flexible silicone insulated wires. It was a royal PITA!!
just a suggestion, but if you have to do that again, remove the black circular bosses that the wires go around. They are not needed at all, and since I removed them have not had wire binding issues!!
Yeah, I did remove them. It’s kinda tight in there. Splicing the wires and getting them to fit within the handle, under the little covers was a tricky thing too.
My TOGA switch or button is located in the second handle from the left, not in the first as it supposed to. I am sure that is fixed with a “simple wire switch”. Really hate to go in there. They are over 2 years old and they work very well.
