Honeycomb Yoke sensitivity settings

Having never flown a real plane I have been experimenting with the sensitivity settings for the yoke to try and get it to respond the way I guess a real plane would and comparing the movement of the onscreen yoke to the real yoke (and not had a lot of luck)

I have read with interest lots of posts on the forum with different suggestions ranging from changing from changing to +66 to -25

So… my question is, as I am still “practicing” in a Cessna 172 what do most people fine the most “realistic” (or best) settings for the yoke?

Really appreciate your feedback on this.

Many thanks.

I have a PPL-A License and fly a Cessna 172 in real Life. That are my settings for the Honeycomb with a Cessna 172. You can also follow me at instagram to see my landings. You can find me under the name: repmalp

At the videos you can see the Yoke Movements in real Life. The intensity of the movements depends on the Weather and Wind.

And don’t compare the movement of the onscreen yoke with the real yoke.

Yes - it’s been well documented that the onscreen yoke doesn’t match the real one very well, most notably at the last 3/4s of the turn in either direction. I have mine set to linear (per HC’s recommendation) and it still appears to have an odd non-linearity at the further yoke movement extremes due to the visual onscreen mis-representation.

Yeah I’ve gone back and forth on the sensitivity settings; definitely gave up trying to match the on-screen yoke as it doesn’t match with other simulators and there’s nothing to trust.

In the end, I’ve gone with this for the Alpha yoke:

which IIRC is close to the defaults of linear sensitivity and a small dead zone.

HOWEVER! I also made a huge sensitivity change on my rudder pedals to get the rudder pedals to feel like they were matching my yoke on turns, which has greatly improved my ability to maintain a coordinated turn.

This is the Logitech G rudder pedals:

So if things aren’t feeling right on turns, make sure your rudder is also set comfortably for you.

Thank you for the info and raising the pedals, perfect timing ! (hopefully) my Logitech pedals are on their way to me so haven’t tried pedals yet so that has answered the question I haven’t asked yet! - that is a massive change too I would probably think I was doing something wrong to change it that much…

Yeah it feels like I’m doing something evil somehow. But it’s reeeaaalllllyyyyyy sensitive by default, and the amount of movement that is needed for a regular 30-degree bank & turn is so small it’s hard to maintain versus neutral, with the spring mechanism actively bumping you back to neutral as hard as it can even at the lowest tension setting. :frowning:

Met the same question, will try later.
Thx to asker & answer.
