Hey from KCVG area. I have a Honeycomb Alpha yoke and am having great difficulty attaching to my desk and de-attaching. It doesn’t seem to work very well without using the brackets, which are almost not wide enough for my desk. The process of attaching and de-attaching to my desk is so strenuous that it’s getting close to not worth doing, and I so much want to use it as it’s both the cat’s meow and the bees knees of a yoke. Both of the rubble/metal disks have fallen off/broken off (not sure which) the long bolts and I don’t know how to get them back on or if I can, or if it would help. That means that to attach it so it is stable makes holes in the bottom of my desk top, which in itself is not really a problem. The issue is the strenuous work of getting the brackets on and off. It requires a significant amount of brute strengh to do which tires me out enough so that it feels not worth it. I wish it was easier to get on and off but I don’t know how. There’s no one here to help me except Ellie Mae, my cat, and she just doesn’t seem interested. Any advice is more than welcome but I’m not feeling very optimistic. I am also not really handy enough to build anything but I suppose I could hire someone if something would work. This is also my work desk/home office. Thanks in advance.
Take some pictures so we can see your desk and yoke
I mount mine with the metal brackets; are you saying that your table top is too thick for these brackets/
My desktop is almost too thick. It is a little to think if the metal/rubber disks were still attached to the bracket. It used to be just one of the brackets still had the metal/rubber disk, but since last night but it’s not anymore. The act of loosening the brackets enough to force the unit off my desk detached the disks. It may, not sure yet, be a bit easier now. I think I can live witht he resulting holes under the desktop.
A solution where the desk is thicker than the supplied U clamps.
I use makeup table that has a drawer and its ideal as it comfortably holds two 42" monitors and with the drawer out and boards over the length of the drawer, its an ideal for fs2020 however the depth of the table top exceeds the maximum width of the brackets supplied with the Honeycomb alpha yoke. However after some considerable searching I found these https://www.banggood.com/2Pcs-Woodworking-Fence-G-Clamp-Aluminum-Alloy-Adjustable-Fixed-Clamps-General-G-Clamp-Hand-Operated-Universal-Accessories-Tool-p-1788834.html?rmmds=myorder&cur_warehouse=CN&ID=513344
which have ample room for fitting as you can see one fully extended and the other is fitted in the photo. They come as a pair but one is enough to secure the yoke to the desktop. I will use the other for the Bravo throttle control when it eventually arrives, currently everybody is out of stock.
