Horrible stuttering, FPS drops at airports, during landing, / BETA 2 (1.4.14.0)

Every landing is a chaotic struggle to keep the aircraft on glide slope yet alone flare properly upon landing - I’ve tested this with both default aircraft and 3rd party payware aircraft both on high demanding airports and smaller less demanding airports that would draw fps… I didnt had this issue with the previous build Sim update BETA2 v1.4.13.0

I’m not one to generally notice performance at all. I lock to 30FPS and have a solid PC which usually maintains the locked rate with no problem at all. Yet, with this new build, I’m seeing single digits when landing – even when taxiing – the GPU (RTX 4090) is absolutely pegged. Played with the settings (lowered LODs, etc.) disabled AI and BATC but it does not seem to matter. Something is making the GPU very busy at the end of a flight. Have had this happen at a couple of my regular airports with both the Fenix A320 and IniBuilds A350. It is definitely new with either .13 or .14.

Something odd.. FWIW, the flight was perfect until about 90 seconds before landing.

It must be due to the telemetry that was implemented in the background in the beta! I don’t think Microsoft has removed it yet.

Yes I can confirm this.

And the worst part is that it makes landing super difficult because it is as if the aircraft teleports across the frames rather than the simulation itself slowing down.

Sim is buttery smooth otherwise which is a massive shame!

rotate during takeoff and changing camera with my custom views also got stutters.
Especially changing camera views at gate uses a lot of VRAM no matter what TLOD and other settings are.

I tried setting the fauna in settings from ultra to high and I managed to do a good night time landing. I’ll test another landing during day time and report back.

that’s happend to me too

ok guys i “THINK” its the fauna settings being on “ULTRA” caused the stuttering on landing issue for me - which is weird… because the previous build (1.4.13.0 ) i was able to have fauna set on ultra… I now have it on “High” settings and was able to land smoothly … try it for your self and let us know your result here… thanks…

Do you also get stuttering if you go into “drone camera mode” and go very close to the ground with the camera?

I do - so I will try this to try to combat that as well.

Hi all.

I completed a flight with the new beta AMD FSR3 frame gen being used, had great FPS take off and cruise, when on short finals I dropped to about 7/8 fps, then when I got to the end of the runway the the FPS came back to normal.

RTX3060ti - AMD RYZEN 5600x

Any idea what would cause this? It’s happened on 2 separate flights.

Confirmed here too:

The sim in general is really bad for stuttering. Simply clicking my screen does it. Watch stutters | Streamable

I’ve had quite a few frame rate issues at airports recently. Especially loading into them say on approach. Also seeing one (Ini’s KPSP FS2024 version) where if I fly directly over head of the terminal with heli my FPS drops 50% then when I pass it it regains FPS. Not sure what the issue is, but it definitely seems worse recently. Which is a pity as the rest of SU2 seems to be coming together nicely.

Best I could get at EGLL (Ini FS2024 Premium, with many visual elements dialed back) was around 17-20 FPS. I’m sure framerates were higher than this on other recent SU2 beta releases.
Stutters are common though on this beta version. I was trying to find out if it was FSR framegen related, or recent NVidia driver (576.02) related, but I don’t have enough data.

I had one approach into KLAX (Ini Enhanced) thought hat was down to single digit framerates and an incontrolable landing. (PC, 3090, 64GB)

That’s probably it, I have fauna set to OFF and have no stutters.

Since both of you are you using a 3060ti that has 8gb have you checked your vram usage?

Do you have enhanced airport graphics or enhanced runway lights enabled? Those 2 have been causing issues for me with major stuttering when I had them enabled to stream in the sim.

I have fauna set to OFF and it has been for a while. I think it only helps if maybe you are around fauna. It’s certainly not a magic solution to frame rates/stutters in every scenario.
I am about to roll back NVidia driver (to 572.83) to compare performance.

EDIT: I just made several passes in the same heli (the S300) over KPSP after rolling back to NVidia drivers 572.83, and frame rate over the airport was steady the whole time. There definitely seems to be some performance related issues with the latest 576.02 drivers for anyone using them. Maybe worth checking out. I haven’t tried a full flight in the Fenix yet though.

Yes, 6.5Gb of 7.2Gb was used, I run with the FPS monitor open.

Since it was >70fps beforehand, there’s something major happening just before touchdown.

No scenery addons / lighting mods, just the Fenix and default everything else in 1080p full screen mode.

Where I can disable these settings?

Clearing the Nvidia shader cache fixed it for me.
