Horrible stuttering, FPS drops at airports, during landing, / BETA 2 (1.4.14.0)

Thank you - maybe not fully resolved then. I had fauna on - yesterday on landing I had major stuttering, that only started upon short final - I will try turning the option off.

Did a flight to EHAM Schiphol with FAUNA set to HIGH instead of ULTRA.

I did not experience the FPS drop this time. So far it seems that turning fauna down seems to solve this total FPS drop issue.
There’s still some performance issues with airliners in big airports but the single digit FPS is now gone!

What is Fauna?

Hello ! To which driver are you reverting ? Did you see any improvement ?

Animals - which is called Fauna in the graphics settings. With it on I can see flocks of sheep in the fields of the UK, well I think they were sheep at 170 knots and 400 ft they are tiny white blobs. I previously had difficulties with Fauna turned on (massive CPU usage, as reported in a thread dedicated to that), that problem seems to have been fixed.

Why would you say something like this?
You only get fixes when 1. they can reproduce the problem. 2. They can figure out what the problem is, 3. when a fix they can figure out makes it from backlog to the development table. And that’s all assuming it’s their fault in the first place and not a driver issue. Or it might be issues with a stale shader cache, etc., etc., that they can’t even see and is on your machine. Unless you have a documented conversation regarding such things, let’s please refrain from accusations like this.

Hey folks,

This topic was marked as bug-logged approximately 1 hour ago, this means that this bug has been successfully reproduced by Microsoft/Asobo.

Well I lost my whole hope tak MS will reslove VRAM problem and horrible lost performance with no reason.
They promise good optimalization and so what. 30 fps with rtx4070 and 7800x3d is a joke without FG at 2k high setting ( rr of). When you enable FG you will have better performance but vram bug will destroy every flight on approach. On 2020 with similar setup I had 50-60 fps. It is horrible Game I have no words…

At first I didn’t believe it would make any difference but clearing the NVidia shader cache has helped my performance immensely. It’s way, way better, even in situations where I visibly run out of VRAM.

I’d try that first before reverting any drivers, the recommendation is to clear them after every driver update anyway.

Well, in my case performance is a problem when looking at terminal buildings on larger airports. You look away - no issue, you look towards it, there it is. I think it was better at the beginning of the beta.

How are we supposed to do this on Xbox though?

I installed an older Nvidia Driver to rule that out and it didn’t help. My guess is that something related to airport models is off as photogrammetry is not causing the same amount of performance drop and stutters.

I guess us console users have hopes and dreams to achieve such a goal :winking_face_with_tongue:

Did you do a clean install, or an express one?
How did you assure the shader cache was cleared?

I used the NVIDIA App to reinstall then did a reboot. I did not clear the shader cache.

So you didn’t rule out the shader cache issue, per se.

I’m no expert, but, I’m pretty sure the reason people end up with shader cache issues is that the driver install isn’t “complete”, and can leave old stuff lying around. Just like it’s a great idea to occasionally clear out your browser cache.

I did everything , new Windows, clean all shaders on my pc, disabled reBar, tried other drivers etc etc, other also have this problem and posted it here. It exists since the reelease of the sim. They all called it vram bug, but i think that stutters are not caused by the vram bug, its another maybe bad code problem. Its a mess! I tried everything in the last 6 months and i clearly know now its not the fault of my pc! Dont tell me I shouldnt talk about my thoughts to the sim here!!

Well, forget what I said here. It’s not the fauna settings. I guess I was just lucky the other day.
Did a flight from EHAM to EDDP. Everything smooth until about 500ft from runway 08R threshold. Framerate drops below 1, the FPS counter doesn’t even register it. However, when I pause, the frames go back to +/-50 fps. As soon as I hit ‘resume’ it just hangs.
Off-topic: note the beautiful LOD’s here with the disappearing wings.

says “Limited by Manipulators” in your bad screenshots…

I wonder if THIS still applies?

Thanks for sharing that, I am currenly in-flight on VATSIM, so I will try this later on my PC but it should not, as the thread is marked “fixed-on-live” but worth confirming.
