I have been using openxr toolkit on Pimax Crystal with great result. Today I want to use openxr runtime on Quest pro, but when I tried to activate vr mode, it said “no headset available”. Have I skipped some procedures? When I was using Pimax Crystal, there seemed to be no step to assign the openxr runtime, it just ran in that mode automatically.
As long as I select oculus runtime as the default OpenXR (oculus desktop app settings/general tab) it seems automatic for me with my QPro using Link or Air Link. Sorry I’m not sure what your issue is mate. Sounds like you may not have the oculus runtime running beforehand. Maybe check your windows task manager services tab and see if oculus runtime is running before trying to startup msfs.
I’m haven’t seen much advantage using OpenXR Toolkit since I upgraded my PC to a i913900k/rtx4090 earlier this year so I’ve stopped using it for now.
@SunlitAlpaca141 Thank you for the advice. I have not installed the oculus desktop app. Is that necessary for Quest pro to use OpenXR runtime? I think the benefit of OpenXR toolkit is that the graphics can be pushed as high as possible while maintaining the fps, as it’s so much more efficient than the SteamVR runtime.
Yes you need to download and install the oculus desktop app in order to do anything PCVR. If you use this properly (device Graphics settings you may find this good enough already. I suggest you try this initially without OpenXR Toolkit and then add this later if you want. Otherwise, you won’t really know how much it is or isn’t adding to your QPro performance with msfs. Probably depends on PC specs.
Are you connecting your QPro with Link or Air Link?
I also have a Pico 4 and I tried to use it with OpenXR runtime today. It also showed “no headset available” just as my Quest Pro. I know people are using Pico 4 with OpenXR runtime, so this is not caused by the missing of Oculus app. I strongly feel I have missed some procedure but I don’t know what it is.
