How can I save the exact state and condition of an aircraft?

So I am looking to make a flight, then park the aircraft, shut it completely down so it’s in a cold and dark state. Exit MSFS. Then load MSFS back up, and go back in the exact same aircraft i was in.

Is there a way to achieve this? I’m trying to let an aircraft get used over many flights so i have to change the fluids, oil, batteries eventually.

Because as it’s current, every time we start a new flight it’s a “brand new aircraft”. I want to use the same aircraft for every flight if that makes sense.

I hope what I’m asking for makes sense.

Hi @DrewC9906 ,

Thank you for your post! Your topic has been moved to a sub-category of the User Support Hub

That’s an individual decision by the aircraft maker to have “persistent state” on wear and tear. Not too many makers have implemented this.

I know there are “save state” apps like FSiPanel, but those only save the state of the systems like the MCDU, etc.

I’d also like to know exactly how to achieve this. That, plus after spawning at exactly that same spot I want to load a flight plan saved on my personal computer, so that I can continue flying additional legs of the same plan. I don’t mind if legs of the plan that have already been flown are removed.

It is not possible.

But, you could save a Flight Plan before you click FLY or START FLIGHT.
Then later load it and then go to the FMS.
Click Flight Plan.
Click the Waypoint you want to start the flight to fly to.
Click Direct to button then Activate button.

You will have to fly to that Waypoint but you could Sim Rate to it.

Download the freeware Wbsim C152, it does what you want. I think Milviz C310 and Flysimware C414 also.

The method described in this thread works for me, though some people appear to be having trouble with it:

As noted in that thread, you can also use external tools like FSUIPC to create flt files rather than the wonky in-game trick, but I haven’t tried that myself.

It looks like the same save system 2020 used, though it includes some new 2024 data such as the wear & tear system. Probably not all planes play nicely with it (2020 had plenty of issues with this save system on complex aircraft).

.flt files are human-readable text files and the wear & tear information can be viewed and edited if desired. You can also view and change the wear & tear data by turning on Developer Mode and using the debug menu.
You’ll need to use at least one of the above two methods to edit the data if you want to simulate individual-part repair, since the career mode maintenance interface isn’t available in free flight. (Of course you can simulate overhauling the whole plane back to brand new just by starting fresh instead of loading the flt file.)

Only planes made for FS2024 support the FS2024 wear & tear system.

Something else to note is that some (most?) planes don’t let you put covers/chocks back on once they’re off, but you can use the Developer Mode menu to do that as well.

Also, I posted this in that thread as well, but make sure your pilot avatar is inside the plane when saving the flt file, otherwise the file will be missing most of the information it should have, including wear & tear.

Add in persistent fuel state and wear and tear, and it’s what I expected to have available for every Marketplace aircraft. I call it ‘Journey Mode.’

Yea unfortunately i can’t figure out how to do this with a parked aircraft. I’ve tried and i dont know if it’s becaue I use the Fenix aircraft or not, but when I save a .FLT in a parked state, it reloads me as the default cold & dark state regardless of how i left and saved it before.

I even tried loading on the runway, set some buttons, saved it, and reloaded. While it kept me inside the aircraft (cause it was on the runway), all the buttons reset back to original cold & dark state.

I don’t see a way of having wear and tear saving after i park the aircraft.

I don’t know which aircraft and buttons you are referring to
but the Longitude with an IFR/ILS flight plan, saved and reloaded,
comes back identical to what was saved.

Also, I’ve never loaded on a runway as cold & dark.

Ah Fenix aircraft may do too much of their own custom programming to save properly. Also, unless they’ve released actual FS2024-compiled versions (as opposed to simply adjustments to make their 2020 planes work in 2024) then they won’t have the FS2024 wear & tear elements anyway.

You can save state like fuel, load, all of your switch settings and position by using the flight recorder provided in the game. If you do your flight, land at an airport (or anywhere for that matter) and shut down your aircraft. Then open the flight recorder and record for a few seconds. Stop it and save. You can get out of the sim at this time. When you want to go back to that particular save state, select the same plane in free flight. Then start a flight somewhere near where you saved (you might be able to do this from anywhere in the world, but I haven’t tried it).

At this point you will be outside of the aircraft to do your pre flight check. Get in the aircraft.

Now, open the flight recorder and load your previous save. I think there is a button that says “take control” or something like that. You can hit that button it will warp you into your previously saved aircraft in the exact same state as you left it. You can continue on your adventure.

In fact, you can actually save your state IN FLIGHT using this method. So if you are 4 hours into an 8 hour flight and need a break, try the same method and you can pick up later in mid-air.

This method works really well. The only thing I would’ve liked to add is that the plane condition (wear, tear, dust/scratches/other textures, covers/chocks, etc) would be saved too. As it is now, none of that is saved via the Flight Recorder. And from what I have read in the forums, it seems the only way to save that in Free Flight is via .FLT export.
