When flying military airbus carrier with 4 propellor engines, A400M, the autopilot constantly disables all throttle and steering input, causing the plane to fall to the ground. How to disable auto-pilot, if possible at all? Auto pilot disconnect button doesnt work, and pressing the AP buttons does nothing either.
Have you allready checked the manual?
Is there a manual in the game?
i just discovered in control options
Autopilot off
Autopilot disconnect
Autopilot Disengage
I cleared LB+A and LB+X and LB+Y
And mapped it to those.
Now everytime i land and the autopilot engages when I am descending slowly with full flaps, just before touchdown the AP engages and I clicked press those three.
The flight planner autopilot, I’m not sure what that is or does. I thought it was causing the “steering stick” to become irresponsive. But I think the irresponsiveness was caused by a very strange kind of irrecoverable stall, unique to the a400m
The manual for the A400 is very limited. Mostly labeled illustrations of the various panels and a quick run through of how to program a flight into the multifunction display, There are no detailed instructions on how to actually operate the aircraft or the autopilot. That being said, I do enjoy the plane quite a bit. Looking at youtube videos of other airbus autopilot operations was helpful as there are a lot of similarities between the systems. I did run into the same glitch with the auto throttle where it would randomly set the programmed speed to zero on approach. Easily a flight ender if you don’t catch it in time.
I haven’t run into that glitch personally, but related question if anyone knows? I can’t for the life of me get the auto throttle to honor a selected speed set on the fix to override a managed speed.
Total noob at detailed airbuses, although I’m very adept with detailed Boeings and other airliners.
Agree both that this one’s a real winner, awesome plane and awesome level of detail for a default aircraft. In desperate need of a proper manual lol. It’s actually pretty ■■■■close to the detail level of my PMDG and JustFlight airliners, but those come with hundreds of pages of documentation and tutorials haha.
I’ve crashed A400 3 times today, SU1 beta, the first time trying, all during a short final.
The A400 disengages the auto-throttle at the worst possible moment and just drops to the ground right before the runway. I tried to manually salvage the final but It feels like someone controls the aircraft with my opposite input.
I’ve heard the A400 is a study-level aircraft, so I’m not sure if I’m missing something or if it’s a bug. Learning is fun unless it’s a bug. ![]()
You have to adjust the throttles to get the power close to maintaining the speed you want and the AP will catch it for you.
Personally I want to disable the Airbus pilot assist so my control inputs are more direct.
